How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

My Fridge went out over the extended weekend. BOTH electric and LP went south. Arrrgh.... Sometimes you just can't win.

I believe that rig is a "Born Free"
i,ve only seen 2 other ones on dodge chassis during my 6 month long search for a small motorhome.
Most of them are rolling on ford frames. Very Well made from what i,ve read.

It looks like a Mobile Traveler, were they around in '76?

It certainly looks like fiberglass. I'm not sure they could make that shape without it being figerglass, to be honest...at least not then.

Plas-T-Cote rubber roof coating by Elixir Industries. I just cut in the edges with a 3 inch brush, and then rolled it with a 9 inch roller.

any difference between plasticote and kool-seal? I had been planning on using Kool seal as soon as the rains had gone away. I already sealed my seams with fiberglass tape and kool-seal patching compound.

Well, you all have been a wealth of knowledge and very helpfull in the rehab our my '78. I stumbled across what seems to be a decent deal yesterday and am picking it up tomorrow. It's a '27 foot 1987 Shasta class C on an E-350 chassis. I picked it up for $1900. It does need some minor work in the rear, but considing the maintance records and overall condition it seemed like a good by. So alas, the old dodge has to go. Thanks again for all your help.

I will try to get to it on Tuesday. and I know they are not big leaks cause it only drips so I will post again when I get the job done thanks for the info.

On repairing the tank. If you can get to the leaks, and they aren't hugh cracks (like mine were) drain the tanks and let them dry so the leaks aren't wet anymore. Cut some non stretching material into 1"x? strips and stock up on the Black ABS adhesive. Clean the leak area, and use the ABS cement to bond the cloth strips to the affected area. Use the cement liberally, make sure you soak the cloth strips when applying. It's messy, but done right, it will seal the tank up like new. That's all the shops do.
