How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

Mopar Madness Manifest in the flesh,

Mark aka White Knight

P.S. Mine's a '72. Is there an older one out there someone's
motorvating in? Maybe even a Travco? W/K

I'll second that.

Merry Christmas to everyone who's made this thread as good as it is!

Santa stepped up (I'm still waiting for that da*n pony from 1965) and got me a job this year. I start on Monday. Yep, full-time!

To all wha' be our kith an' kin of kindred spirit here, Greetings!

I thank each o' ye for not only the sharin' o' ye wisdom, but also o'
yer heart,

And before this year frets down to a close, an' the new begins his start...

The Preacher once spoke "Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens his fellow
man's countenance- his character's "face"!

I thank ye all, for the kindness o' the shapin' done, the passage disputed, and th' lending o' ye grace.

I pray that we shall continue our little measure as we may,

Helpin' those curious of our craft learn well, seek and find, and navigate
wisely their way.

Rememb'rin the Great Teacher, who gave His gifts to men freely

His greatest, given at the price of His life, He gave lovingly an' serenely!

So let us return th' good while th' sun upon us shines

And return e'en in our own little measure th' thanks due th' Glory divine!

Now I must close, blessings an' best wishes I bid to thine, and to thee,

Faith, Peace and Love- the best comes always in threes!!

may God bless y'all...

Well I've been busy working on my rig and finding more damage to repair. Here are some more pics. I'm having trouble with some of the labels and descriptions on some of the pics, sorry. If you have any questions please just ask. Most are of the drivers side and overhead bunk installed. I found a lot more damage along this side when I pulled off the siding to repair the front corner.

Oldtrucker,
I looked up Harlan's location and I think I have the reference. My father-in-law was in the Army during WWII and had a buddy from there I think. My son used to live in Wytheville Va. which is not all that far from Harlan County and I think he mentioned that. He is gone now so I can't ask him. Anywho, I am enjoying watching your rebuild... keep up the good work.

Do you know the father-N-laws buddys name,?? I have lived here for 47 years might know of him or heck might even be kin.

ONce again nice work there.... not sure about the wire size, I guess I would go heavier if there is a question. Your going to have a new rig when you get done! great work..

oldtrucker,
Congrats on your new(old) rig... Lots of rebuilt old dodges on this forum... good luck with yours. Harlan Kentucky, I recognize that name but don't know why? Anywho, let us know about your progress..

Wow, some familiar pics there, Jerry !

If (when!) I do it again I think I'm going to run conduits through the backs of the cabinets, then bring the light and speaker wires out along the rafters rather than put holes through 'em. Mine had 1" holes cut through the 2X2 framing (1 1/2"nom) for absolutely everything, even if it was just an 18ga pair for a speaker. Once water got in, the (flat) roof sagged and held even more water...

16AWG wire is good for 25 amps. 16SAE is about 10% smaller (cma).
Unless it's a REALLY long run, you'll blow the 15A fuse long before the wire is in any danger.

And yeah, if in doubt use the next bigger guage.

Nicro makes a solar powered vent fan as well for around 150 bucks.

Hi all, I've added a few more pics of the work on the roof here. They show the roof area and the rebuilt overhead bunk. I have installed the bunk board in the RV (no pics yet) so I can make my pattern for the inside walls (the paneling there could not be saved) of the bunk and have everything level. I'll have to take it back out in order to install them because of the way everything fits together. I will also have to remove the roof in order to install the rest of the ceiling panels. That was installed in order to do the wire runs and make sure I don't overlook anything. A lot of extra work, but I just could not figure out any other way to check my work. I'm planning on running power to the vents so I can at some point add power vents and I was wondering if anyone knows if that should be 14ga. or will 16ga. be larger enough? Sorry for the long post.

Thanks guys. I realize it's a mount for something but Dan, with your rig being in the great shape it's in I figured you might have the actual piece that it holds.

Enjoy the MH...I had to junk mine cause it was too far gone. I was actually contemplating adding the engine and tranny to the list till I found the frame damage.

I'm looking for another old Dodge next summer though....sucker for punishment I guess !

thanks for the replies everyone!

CO, the door curtains are history, replaced with more mundane white ones. I took those pictures the day I picked it up and done a bit of freshening up since then.

DL, the white thing mounted on the dash is a plasic holder for something like a drink cup or a radio mic

Mine had one too but I never found anything in the MH that mounts there.

The white plastic piece is for those swing/swivel drink holders that you will usually find in boats. The wire drink holder clips into the white plastic piece you see on the dashboard.
