MH Licensing costs in NV, AZ and Utah?

I am seriously considering leaving California for either NV, AZ or Utah. I am trying to factor in all tax and licensing related differences in each of these states to help me choose the best location for my situation. Can those of you with class A MHs and living in any of those states give me some idea in what you are paying in MH licening and registration costs each year? Please provide the year and length of MH. and indicate whether it is diesel or not. Thanks.
I want to leave this earth quietly in my sleep like my grandfather and not like the hysterical, screaming passengers riding in granddad's RV just before the big crash.:E

OK, For those trying to gain an understanding of AZ - First year vehicle registration is based on 60% of MSRP and reduces 16.25% each year. The registration fee is then 2.89/$100. So first year it's a whopping $1734 for a MSRP of $100,000. Second year $1452, etc.

MSRP is the mfg supplied MSRP and not whatever a dealer posts. The above may have changed recently.

No, actually it would be much easier for me and perhaps useful to other forum readers if you called them for me. Then post what they tell you so more RV.com readers can be informed. I tried calling DMV in California and it was such a nightmare just trying to get through that it has made me a bit gun-shy.

I'll get you the AZ information if you'll do my CA taxes. :B
Likely can't happen- Princesses don't know how to do their own taxes, either. 😉

To get that 'special' rate in Arizona, you have to have one of two things:

1. Know the "secret" handshake at the time of registration...or

2. Be related to Sheriff Joe...:E

Good luck....Dennis
X2 That post is totally irrelevant to how AZ fees are calculated, but it was funny!

HUH? AZ license is used to pay what other states refer to as personal property tax.

From AZ DMV:
The VLT is based on an assessed value of 60 percent of the manufacturer's base retail price reduced by 16.25 percent for each year since the vehicle was first registered (15 percent before Aug. 1, 1998). Then, as of the Dec. 1, 2000, reduction, the rate is calculated for each $100 of the assessed value as $2.80 for new vehicles and $2.89 for used vehicles. For example, for a new vehicle that costs $25,000, the first-year assessed value would be $15,000 and the VLT would be $420. The second year the assessed value would be $12,562.50 and the VLT would be $363.06.

My new 30' MH VLT was about $1,400.
The older I get....the better I was.

Each vehicle owner must pay a registration fee at the time of initial registration and annually thereafter. The fee varies depending on vehicle type, registered weight, county, and other factors. To find out the exact fee for your particular vehicle, please call the DMV at 801-297-7780 or 1-800-DMV-UTAH (800-368-8824). Uniform fees also apply.

Too many variables. County, weight, age of vehicle. The older the vehicle, the less expensive the registration. Give 'em a call. I used to live in California. The DMV in Utah does not compare to California. You show up, do your thing, and in 15 minutes you're done. You bring all your documents, you leave with plates and stickers. The people that work there are generally friendly and willing to help.

Utah DMV Fees

Of note, Utah requires Safety inspections annually. Depending on the county, also emissions (less strict than CA).

I can't offer any insight to AZ and UT, but here in NV in you will be charged a Government Services Tax which is based on the MSRP of your coach and decreases each year. When we first moved here in 2010 the tax on my 2009 coach was ~$3,000. For 2013 it was $2,200.

NV does not have a state income tax so that should be taken into consideration in your overall evaluation.

Please take this with the spirit intended.

1. Yea, I'll get right on that.:h
2. Yea, like I'd believe what someone posts on a forum regarding DMV law in a specific state.:h
3. Yea, I'll call DMV and work through the nightmare as you called it to get your DMV questions answered. All I need will be all of your personal information, year make and model of MH, the tax exemptions you qualify for, and the address of residency where you plan to live in each state to include the borough, municipality, and county.:h

I needed a good yuk yuk today. Many thanks for the post.

All of that should be available on line from each DMV.
