I have been looking for a mh and all I have seen are mh's that remind me of a glorified travel trailer with a motor attached. now I don't want to be coming across as a smart a$$ but the cabinets and some of the other features just remind me of the TT I have now. I hate to think I have to spend $300K or more to get what I am looking for in a MH. Ok I have ranted, lay it on me. I need to be corrected or led into the right direction. there are a lot of things about some mh's I like but the rest just look like TT's

Mine has solid cheery wood cabinets, with very good quality workmanship. But, they were not made by Newmar. So, if I were you I would look for a Country Coach, even though they're getting kinda scarce.

I am only 54, but start camping as a child with my family. Once on my own I started with a tent, then popup, travel trailer, fifth wheel and now a used Class A DP.

Someone else said something similar to this... with a TT or 5ver, the adventure starts when you get to you destination and get setup, with a Class A, the adventure starts when you crack the engine.

We enjoy our Class A and don't think I could ever go back. We were able to purchase a Class A DP for actually a lot less than what we spent for our 5ver and truck.

Browse the internet www.demartinirv.com they are a high volume RV Dealer that sales lots of bank repo's, along with new units and trade in's. If you don't like there price they encourage you to make a counter offer. They show very nice pics of there coaches and there about 8 hours South of your location.

Oregon....... where some of the finest Motor coaches were built and still are serviced daily near Junction City.

Country Coach Affinity, Magna, Intrigue, and Allure models.

Yes, they are long and narrow, but much nicer than a travel trailer.

Your motor home.....yes, "YOUR" motor home is not going to just pull up in your driveway and present itself (ta-daaaa!). Your search will consist of searching high and low, far and wide, and then some more.

The basis for your search should include the mindset of first motor home purchase should also be your last and that's because you have done your research, know exactly what you want, considered future needs/wants, and took your time finding it.

My coach is a 1999 model. When we first looked at it, I was impressed at how everything felt of "quality" and not, as you say, like a cheap travel trailer. Of course, we decided to purchase it and have been nothing but pleased with the overall performance and quality, save a few items that needed updating and repairing simply from the aging process. Since we bought ours, we have looked at several coaches, both new and used, and unless they are the upper end models, they ALL feel cheap. Just recently, I went in a 2009 model Cross Country diesel pusher. Looks GREAT from the outside. Less than 30K miles, brand new Michelin tires, in-motion satellite dome, all the amenities. Went inside to take a look and upon opening the first cabinet, it was obvious that the manufacturer "cheaped-Out" everything else. Even the floors felt cheap and hollow. Asking price was $85K. Not in this lifetime........

Decide on one of the higher quality brand name coaches and then look for one several years older...even up to 10-15 years old....with a floor plan that will suit your needs. "Quality-BuilT" will trump "Newer/Cheaper" every time!!!

I'll join the group that says get out and look at the older units - Trust me they do not look like trailers - Solid Wood - Good Woods - Cherry, Maple and Walnut - not in the trailers as they add too much weight?

Foretravel 10-15 years old or and old Beaver - Now the newer upper end units have totally gone over the top - they or at least a few rival many of the Yachts we see at the Boat Shows.

Look around and see if we missed the "BOAT" .:S

Go to an early 1990's Bluebird. Solid wood cabinets. Steel body. Top of line coach. 40' tag axle. In the 50k range.

Look at quality coaches. Used and a little older will have better quality and all the bells and whistles for no where near 300K.

If you want quality, you have to go to your higher price coaches. You have entry level on any brand and as I have said for years and you being an old man should know that you get what you pay for.

By now you should know on travel trailers and fivers that there are high priced trailers and there are cheaply made trailers. The same goes for motor homes. The more you pay, the better wood on the cabinets, ceramics are better on the floors, and counter tops sky is the limit. But I would stay away from the granite tops because of the radiation they emit. I would go with a good Corian top or an Avanite.

Entry level you do not pay much, so what do you expect?

Look at the better manufacturers. I was comparing different motorhome and it is striking the difference in quality between the manufacturers as well as the level within the manufacturer. Depending on your budget, you may want to get an older quality motorhome vs a newer lower quality one.

You';re right... many are just glorified trailers. Guess you have not looked a Beavers or even a Dynasty... a mid level Monaco. I looked at a lot of your posts and they are all over the place but many with 45' in them. Like B.. B.. Tank asked, what's your budget and after 10 years on here, I'll assume used.
