porcelain tile in gas motorhome

I have a 2015 Winnebago Sightseer 35G. We don't like the vinyl. Would like to put down porcelain tile. I understand it would add some weight. Wondering if any gas has tile and?or if anyone has added porcelain tile to a gas model.

Beyond the weight issue is the issue of flex. Ceramic tile does not allow for any flex or any imperfections in the floor. The tiles will crack and lift. For a motorhome you need a flooring that has some flexing abilities. If you do decide to go with ceramic tile, be sure to pick out what you will be replacing it with while your at the store. It will save you a little time down the road. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I guess you are unfamiliar with newer motorhomes that are full of ceramic or porcelain tile. I have looked at many used coaches that show no signs of cracking, and looked closely

If you are going to install the tile following best practices from 1940, you are probably correct. If you understand current technology and use the correct products, not so much. When you get involved with high tech. membranes and synthetic grouts, you would be amazed at how flexible, and durable, installation can be.
I used a flexible grout and adhesive/mortar with good cement board. I guess some don't read others post. No cracking on my MH

It's been done, of course, but I would be the last person to be adding that kind of weight and especially to a gasser. Wood laminate would be my consideration, if I was to change anything.
Having said that, I wonder how many know what their DP weighs fully loaded and in comparison to it's GVWR and suspect that most just assume that if it's a DP, it has gobs of CCC.

I have granite in my kitchen and bath. It's pretty heavy. I was out in it yesterday in my socks and it is cold on the feet. Shure looks good though.

I didn't think it was a good idea even porcelain that has a bit more flex but was aware that Dolphins had it in some models years ago so wanted to check. We are getting used to what we have so may be awhile until we replace it.

i just weighed a 12"x12" piece of the tile I put in our motorhome bathroom, 3 pounds at most. I remember many saying it would crack on my old P30 chassis which never happened. As far as the weight, I sure didn't worry about it and a hundred extra pounds can be removed from some place if you are that concerned. I wouldn't have anything else in a bath anyways, it had carpet before which may grandsons liked to water it.

tile adds 5+ pounds per square foot. Your CCC maybe compromised

They have vinyl products now that look so much like tile/stone that it is hard to tell the difference. I've seen some vinyl that even uses grout. We had some luxury vinyl snap together flooring installed in our stick house kitchen that looks like travertine.

Check out some of the better vinyl plank flooring.

I know the Georgetown (gas) has a ceramic tile option. to me it made the whole MH seem cold and uninviting. didn`t have the warm inviting feeling. have you considered something like Pergo wood laminate flooring?

Not only the weight, but your chassis may flex too much.

I've seen a couple of posts where they did laminate that looked like stone.....came out very nice. Plus.....much easier to work with!

We went with a solid PVC product that looks just like barn wood. Looks fantastic! They installed it diagonally and everyone who sees it loves it. Not cheap, but worth it. And yes, ours is a gasser.

The wife and I are going with laminate in our Winnebago Adventurer in the near future! Were tired of the carpet!
