I replaced aged out Michelins with Cooper Stampede tires.
Could not be happier.
Ride much better and a fair bit less money!

Before downsizing from Class diesel pusher to class c Coach house, I ran TOYO tires on my diesel pusher. when i bought diesel pusher it had TOYO tires on it so when I had to change tires and put a new set on it I put the TOYO tires back on it. They were good riding and great handling tires especially on uneven roads.

When it comes time to change the tires on my Class c now I will most defiantly check out TOYO's and Michelins.

Tire brands are like bread. Everyone has a favorite.
Every brand has had recalls.
All class E tires have the same load rating per Gov. DOT.
Most RV tires time out - get old before they ware out.

Some love Michelin, while some of us remember the restrictions placed on
our armed forces in Vietnam to protect the Michelin Rubber Plantations,
that the VC used to hide in. So we will not buy them.
Again just a personal thing.

JD good info re:Alcoa rims. I received a 45th bday gift card, so was thinking about the rims as a gift to me. Nice present. Regarding wheel liners I don't have extenders yet so trying to chuck or air is not easy. Once the extenders come in off to Americas for spare tire recall and install valve kits. Based on your info might wait on the Alcoas, but not long, me likey Shiney new things. Cheers.

We have been running with Michelin XPS Ribs all around for the past 6 years. Coachmen 28.5 foot Class C on a E450 Chassis. They have about 35,000 miles including two summer long round trips to Alaska. Never have had a single tire issue. Not even a flat. The tread looks like new and to this point in time, there is no evidence of side wall deterioration due to aging or UV. One previous poster is correct, they are not M/S tires. That said, we did boondock a lot in Canada and Alaska on our trips and drove lots of gravel and muddy roads without a traction issue. The only time the MH got stuck was coming out of the storage building this spring when the ground was abonormally soft due to heavy rains. The XPS Rib is a steel core tire with steel belts and rides a bit firmer then the LTX version but we felt the conditions on the back roads of Canada and Alaska warranted the better tire.

One observation relating to the Michelin XPS RIB versus the Michelin LTX M/S2: The tread on the XPS is a smooth highway tread. If you want better traction - just in case - for mud, wet, slush, and snow ... go with the M&S2 Michelin.

The M&S2 tires make no highway noise and carry a 70,000 mile warranty.

Still agree, except one point.

Agree - The Firestone TransForce HT looks like a very good tire at a very good price. Equivalent to M/S2

Agree - Michelin XPS Rib, Bridgestone Duravis R250 are a step up. I went R250 when I realized how heavy/close to GAWF and tire ratings we were.

Agree - America's Tire (Discount Tire in other parts of the country, same outfit, same warranties) "Certificates" are a good idea

Disagree - If you install Tire Man or Dually Valves (Borg) you can check tires easily with wheel simulators in place. If you add "air through" caps, even faster. Tire Man (Chuck) started shipping his kits with such caps. I don't know if Borg (Bill) has started to do that also or not, but they're available at NAPA in sets of four. If you have a Spare, you need seven caps.

Neutral - Alcoas are beautiful, no doubt. But if it matters to you, you probably can't do much in the area of Tire Rotation. The sets I've seen keep the steel inner dual, and I think some are polished on only one side. If both are still true, you could only switch LR to RR, and LF to RF. I specified aluminum wheels on a van we ordered in 1992 and still have. After a few bouts with the tire shop, they don't stay perfect and it's hard to get the look back. Also, many shops have only rim-mounted balance weights and those detract from the look. There's stick-on balance material they cut by the inch to get the weight, but not all that common.

Michelin LTX M/S2's are good. XPS ribs are better. Of course they cost a bit more. M/S2's are affordable and run good. If you buy at Americas Tire, buy the certificates, that way if something goes wrong, the $9 insurance for full replacement is $60 well spent. If there is recall again you can get replacements like I did. Certificate purchase goes with new tires, don't have to come out of pocket. If a recall happens again I'm putting the ribs on with Alcoa rims with tire man extended valves. Best way to go. No pulling off the wheel covers to check tires, pita if you ask me.

Each his own. I don't care for Michelin. Right now we are running on Firestone.

Agree with all of the above. We were very pleased with that Bridgestone equivalent^^^ It's actually called "Duravis R250" and we just had another set installed.

However, Michelin has a recall campaign on their LTX M/S (prior to the MS2). They're doing a free replacement if the tires are between certain date codes. Since the LTX M/S was original equipment on Ford Class C chassis, you just might win a $1500 lottery.
