Rattle/play in hitch attach

I have a drop down reciever that slides into the motorhome reciever and then the tow bar slides into the drop down, hence I have two pin points. The holes are NOT eaten out, but I do have a enough play that I get some rattle in the two recievers. Is there a way to minimize or eliminate this play/rattle? Thanks
Brian

I drilled a 5/8 hole about 1 inch from the open end of the receiver and ran a tap through it and then screwed a bolt into the hole. This puts pressure on the inserting receiver and removed any wiggle or noise. This was for my bike rack. When I needed to tow something heavier on another hitch, I welded a nut to the threaded hole so I had a bigger bite for the bolt and that was easy to do. A couple of tack welds and it was done. I carried a small crescent wrench to tighten or loosen the bold. No noise or wiggle when the bolt was tight.

This is exactly what I did, only with a 3/8" bolt. Worked perfect.

I wedge a piece of thin aluminum or steel between the receiver and hitch square hole. But this can make it hard to remove the receiver for different receivers. Tape sounds (pun intended) the easiest/cheapest.

In my case I have a bicycle carrier mounted on the custom modified drop receiver.. Thus I really do not want it "Rattelling" around as it would toss the bike about rather firmly.

The Blue Ox Hitch Immobilizer fixed it solid (Only it was called an Anti-Rattle clip when I bought it)

The custom mod

Blue ox welded a "tong" on the top of it for the hitch mount bicycle carrier to fit on. Works great. They can do wonders when you visit the factory with your problem.. Nice campground there too.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I was getting some wear with the drop hitch and installed 2 of the Roadmaster devices at $25 each.

Mine was getting harder to remove due to the hole flare that was developing.

I used 2 to 4 rounds of plastic tape to help with this.. If you take it off and on this won't work, I leave mine on all the time.. Mike Mathews..

Roadmaster makes a Quiet Hitch.. From Roadmaster website: Quiet Hitch stops sway and wander before it begins. Quiet Hitch eliminates any free play between the receiver and the tow bar (or bike rack, ball mount or whatever you insert) for a solid, seamless connection. Consistent pressure keeps your towing combination tracking straight through crosswinds, curves and sudden maneuvers — all with considerably less effort on your part.

They are not the only one who has such a part.
