Sliding Drivers Side Window Broken .... Update

2006 Beaver Monterey 4 Slide is the coach.
Who's that guys name ..... ? The one who always grabs you by the butt!!
Murphy ..... !!!??? Yep, Grabbed me good.
So I'm on the riding mower and a small stone hurdles thru the air and hits the sliding glass window and shatters the tempered glass.
I thought the slidder just lifts up and pulls out. Don't think so!!
Do I need to remove the whole frame including the non-slidder and upper ....? All three are in one frame with the frames shroud screws on the inside and 4 you can't get a screwdriver to the head because the dash is in the way. Any comforting assistance would be appreciated!!

Picked up the frame with new tinted slider window. I-5 Glass here in Springfield disassembled the frame to remove the slider. Cut the glass (I had them do a tinted ) and sent it to Portland to be tempered. Reassembled into the frame and I picked it up yesterday. Cost was $275. Today I'll run new butle sealer (comes in a roll as original) around the inside flange and re-install securing with ....... 39 screws on the inside.

Have the whole frame removed now. The 3 screws directly next to the dash were most difficult ..... but...... using a square head tip clamped by a Craftsman locking plyers I pain stakingly removed them from the frame. There is an inch and a half space.
Will update the cost of a new piece of glass .... seriously thinking of having an increased tinted piece. The sun shines intensely when setting in the west and driving north.

The poster referenced "plastic strips" so your window construction must be different. Sorry bout that.

Removing the frame and splitting the frame is not that difficult.

I had to remove the frame to repair my 2 pane (1 slider). After removal, you'll find screws hold the the two ends of the frame together. Once you split the frame, the window will come out.

I have not tried it, but read another post recently where the poster said he removed the flexible tracks above and below the window to get clearance to remove the sliding window without removing the frame. This might be worth a try.

Fred ... do you think they were talking about the cloth material the window slides on? Other than glue (I don't see residue) I don't see how the strips are secured. Snapped in or secured by fasteners.

By the way don't get it too tight. It must have room to flex.

Winnebago said replace the whole side three window frame unit. Glass Doctor replaced the pane and did not remove the frame.

I busted my passenger side window while using a weed wacker. We were in mid coast Maine for the summer and no RV repair business in the area. So I measured and made a thin template out of poster board, took that to a nearby hardware store and had a piece of plexi glass cut. The hard part was the curved radius on one end. I managed to fit it in without removing the frame, and it worked fine until we returned to Florida months later. Had LZ Days replace it. As I recall it was a little over $300.

I used Glass Doctor for mine. They came to my location and measured and came back after tempered glass arrived and installed. Great service. I have high deductible insurance so paid out of pocket. Not cheap but a lot less than replacing the whole frame and other two windows. Yes they cut it smaller than opening and seal holds it in. Glued to the piece with handle.About $500.00.

Similar thing happened to me 2 yrs ago.....Called an auto glass shop (small independent guy) and he said bring it in and he would custom make one for me....

Very easy for me to get the glass (what was left of it) and frame out..took it in and a few days later new window........Cannot tell any difference between the new and old glass...He did a great job and it was very reasonable........

On my MH I just removed the small rubber seal and it was quite easy after that (do not recall exactly how I did it, not at the MH now).....
