Smoke Alarms....

I'm a firm believer in smoke alarms, but dang it...I can't even make a piece of toast without that thing going off. The only thing I can think of would be to relocate it to a different location. Right now it is above the door and our kitchen is right across from the doorway. Any ideas..?

I used a plastic cover that goes over left-overs...looks like a shower cap. Personally, I like the idea of taking the battery out and then doing something to remind you to put it back!

Same here and I bet with everyone. Toast does seem to tick off the smoke detector.

In my case the first 2 times it went off the dogs started screaming, not barking but high pitched screaming until I could get the battery out of it. I finally put the toaster on the shelf for the TV in the back bedroom it doesn't set it off back there.

Although to this day all the dogs have to do is just 'smell toast' and they immediately start screaming expecting the detector to go off. :R:R

We had the same experience in our old 5th wheel (21 footer). The detector was next to the bed. I'd take it off the wall and lay it on the bed. When bedtime came we were reminded. Our cat, to this day, hates it when I start frying foods......that alarm used to scare him so bad, that he takes off when he hears the sizzling.....LOL

Does your over-stove vent not work? That should be able to remove the smoke from making the morning toast. If not, I think that's due for a fix before you try to monkey with the smoke alarm or its location.

I experience the same exact thing with the toast. But I'm using a toaster on the counter. So the vent doesn't help in this situation.

I have gottn in a habbit of installing a mini STSP switch so I can turn it off in those instances.

Sometimes we have to remove battery, cook and replace batter. I leave battery compartment "door" hanging down so I am reminded to put battery back in.

As small an area as MH is, I'm not sure relocating would help much.
