The trolley stops at pretty much all of the campgrounds.

How often does the Trolley come by?

Friends of ours that we camp with often love Mama Gerties in Asheville. They take an anniversary trip there each September. They say the views from up there are amazing and they live in the mountains.

Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg = lots of activity with amusement parks
Cherokee = little touristy
Townsend = more quiet, most campgrounds are river front

Do you want amusement parks or quiet it is up to you?

We stayed at Twin Creek in October. It is tight and most spots are back in. Beautifully landscaped, lots of trees. Cancellation fees are unreasonable if you change but we didn't have to. Trolley stop at the entrance to take trolley into Gatlinburg. Traffic is horrible in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, so trolley stop is helpful. Not sure what you are looking for but would stay in Twin Creek again.

We usually like to stay at River valley in cherokee where you can reserve a spot where you can park parallel to the river with full hookups. This last time we stayed at Two Rivers in Severeville which is also right on the river. It is a more upscale place check out bout on the web.

We have stayed at many of the campgrounds in/around PF and Gatlinburg, but those don't really offer any VIEWS.

Our favorite is Pine Mountain RV Park in downtown PF. They offer indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs and a lazy river pool. It's according to when you plan to travel, but it will likely be COOL in the spring.

We have stayed at Twin Mountain, Riverside, Riverplantation, Riversedge, KOA, Misty River, Smoky Bear, Adventure Bound, Jellystone, Elkmont (NPS) and it seems like a few others that I can't remember the names of. Pine Mtn is by far, our fave. It's clean, off the parkway, but close to everything.

We have always stayed in Townsend at the quiet entrance to the park near Cades Cove.
There is a KOA and Tremont campground just outside the entrance to the park. Both are on the river and nice. A riverfront lot in Tremont is our preference. You can tube on the river from your campsite.

The campgrounds WITHIN Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have NO views, or definitely limited. If you want to get a good one, you will need to stay in one of the NP campgrounds, which abound in the area, but are also limited in facilities.

There are other campgrounds located within the GSMNP or adjacent on the NC side of the park. You might want to check those out.
