Storage compartments in Class C

I hope this is ok to ask here. We have looked at quite a few Class C motorhomes recently. One that we like has almost no storage underneath. Are there any good, reliable Class C motorhomes with a decent amount of storage? If so, what make & model?

Thanks!

Ron, your Phoenix Cruiser is a beauty. Obviously, it has been the recipient of much TLC! Pristine!

Thank you everyone! As I told my husband, this group has some quite knowledgeable and helpful people who make excellent points to consider! We will probably be buying soon, and it will probably be a Class C. Many thanks!!!

My 2008 Winnebago Outlook 29' has ample storage, like JTCHess says. I have storage bays on passenger side and driver side. The area in back goes all the way thru under the slide. We are well pleased with the storage capabilities on our unit.

We have plenty of outside storage on our 2008 Winnebago Outlook 31C. A large area in the rear like in the photos above as well as outside storage in (not under) the drivers side slide out and two relatively good sized compartments on the passenger side as well. It's interesting that Winnebago no longer make them this way, virtually eliminating the compartments on the passenger side and the compartment under the slide (not part of the slide) is significantly smaller.

Mine is 1500 lbs. Very manageable.

We have a 2013 LTV Unity Twin Bed on a Sprinter 3500 Chassis & has more storage inside & outside than we need. Check out the Leisure Travel Van website.

Our 23'-8" scaled-down Phoenix Cruiser 2350 has a rear corner double bed providing decent outdoor storage. The rig inside has nice indoor storage too in-part because we don't have a slide out. We have "comfortable" dinette benches with memory foam seating with good bulk storage areas below. Also large cabinets above the dinette. With a slide-out, you give up the dinette for a couch, and you get less wall and ceiling space so the over-head cabinets get smaller.

This is the outdoor storage compartment, big enough that my wife and I could both cram inside at the same time and close the door. It meets our traveling needs very well, but admittedly I wished it was a bit bigger yet for the occasional unexpected bulky item. You can never have too much storage, making sure you don't over-load the rig in regards to weight. Our 2007 E350 has roughly 2300 pounds of margin. Loaded up on trips, we have a minimum of 1000 pounds to spare, likely more.

Our 20 footer has one outside compartment that holds the lawn chairs, ground sheet, levelling blocks, hose, jack and some tools - always full. Another one sometimes holds two inflatable toy kayaks, sometimes firewood.

When we bought it I was sure I would need a bumper mounted storage box and even bought a sheet of puck board to make it. But we found the two of us didn't need any more stuff. A couple of inside cupboards are usually empty. After years of stuffing things into a van and pop up, we like the lack of stuff and all the searching that goes with it.

Fleetwood no longer makes a 26Q model but there are other brands that may still do it. The interior storage is average but the rear storage area is very spacious. The spare wheel and tire are mounted on the front wall with access on both sides and the rear. The compartment is lighted. I carry my disassembled mobility scooter, and collapsed dog containment things, plus chairs, BBQ grill, fishing gear, air compressor, etc., etc.

It looks like the last Fleetwood 26 Q's were 2009 Tioga Ranger models.

If you are looking for a shorter class C, check out the Coachman 21QB. Mine has more than enough room to hold 6 lawnchairs, a Weber grill, a few large totes and 2 sets of golf clubs with pull carts. I'm pretty sure I could stuff a couple of bikes in there, too, if I took the front wheels off.

Bear in mind that weight may be the limit on some C's, especially ones with longer rear overhangs. There may be plenty of volume, but rear axle or total allowable weights may keep you from using all of it. Even some short RV's are weight-challenged.

Just picked up a new to us Fleetwood 27' 26Q. Most 26Q layouts have a large storage compartment under the back that goes all the way across. Ours has three hatches. The floor of it is a series of small tables with compartments under them also. This storage area was one of the things that made us decide on this layout.
My 29' Forester has a large pass through like that and a low wide bin, maybe 1'X4" driver side front, rest of the sides are taken up by Battery compartment, propane tank, & generator.

Our 2011 Coachmen Concord has lots of storage in the back accessible from three sides! We love it! Our model only has 1 slide, no bedroom slide which allows for more storage in back. It also has storage bays on both sides all across the coach. It's almost 33 feet long.
