storing dinnerware

New to motorhome arena.
Wondering if there is any advice on storing nice dinnerware for travel in DP.
Have lots of experience with TT where we used Correlle plates that survived just fine stacked on top of each other, even though they got bounced around a lot.
With change to DP, we decided to get nicer dinnerware.
Haven't been out yet with new rig, but wondering if they will survive ok as-is, or whether we need to put something between them, or get some type of storage system.
Thanks
Jeff

So you don't keep any good stuff in your house either? None of that will survive that same 3 foot drop! All my dinnerware is real china. I am home in my RV and want the same comforts I would have in a house.

Did you even read my post? Is English a second language? (tongue in cheek) Yes, I keep ALL my good cookware/tabletop stuff at home. My RV doesn't have All the same comforts of home but it does have some of them. That's why I have it.

Based on my experience(s) I stand by my statement. My rule only applies to MY motor home, not my home. Everyone is free to do as they wish which is hopefully what suits them best.

Use anti skid shelf liner and cut to size
Place between plates.

Just avoid route 23 by passing Toledo and should have no problem....that hwy. will destroy paper plates.

We use the felt pads between the corelle. We also use the waffle rubber stuff.

I did explode a corelle (same ones) in our 5er when I left the cupboard open. Tiny shards everywhere. I told my wife not to run the garbage disposal till I could get all those out - she never got it.

Cheap paper plates, put between each of your fine china plates, will protect them and minimize the noise as you go bouncing down the road.
A stack of silverware, wrapped with a rubber band, will also travel quietly.

Use Correl (the old stuff) that I've had since the '70's. I've learned from bitter experience to put the RV'ers shelf liner under 4 plates to keep them from being flung out of the cabinet when a curb jumps out in front of the RV's rear tires. (I have saucers, small dinner, large dinner, all stacked one on top of the next, and then small bowls on top of those, every 4th plate has a piece of liner under it). Large bowls I don't worry about much.

The glasses I've just resigned myself to have glasses with scratch marks on them from travel vibration. Wine glasses I keep in the towel cabinet on and between towels.

What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Paper plates. They won't break and you don't have to wash them.

I'm probably the only person who travels with Royal Doulton stoneware. I bought them 40+ years ago when I first moved out of my parents house and except for the soup bowls which broke years ago I think I've got all 8 place settings and serving pieces still.

When we moved them to the RV we got a roll of that waffle anti-slip pad and cut squares to go between each plate or bowl. Even with the old 5th wheel that caught air with a few really horrendous potholes bypassing Boston we never lost a piece. The air bag suspension in our A will be even better.

you can buy rolls of shelf liner and cut it to size. put on between each plate and they don't go anywhere. they stay in place and do not rattle

We use the best paper plates that Dixie makes.

Thank you all so much for the replies.
I did think about the rubber waffle material and may start out with that just to be safe to protect the dishes.
As some mentioned the coach rides so nice and smooth there may not be an issue at all, but just wanted to get some data from folks before trying.
We have the stemware in nice cardboard boxes with dividers, so they should be ok.

We never broke a dish or glass - even wine glasses by storing 'as is'. Of course, you can't have a lot of extra space in the cabinet for things to slide around. If you do, store some rolls of paper towels in the cabinet.
