Technique for removing graphics?

Does anyone have a "best method" for removing graphics from a Class-A motor home? Heat gun? Solvents? What works without damaging the wall structure and finish?

I'm looking to remove most of the graphics from our Winnebago Sightseer to be replaced with custom astronomy related graphics, images of galaxies, nebula, etc.

We did the same on our previous Class-C but, because it had a large rear window, we just had a big graphic made out of window perf.

Thanks

Heat gun - not too hot and I have had great luck with old credit cards, cut to give you a sharp edge - just be careful not to use too much heat take your time and they will pull off slowly.

When I restriped my 95 Bounder I used PPG's DuraPrep Prep502. Apply stripper on the stripe/decal, go sit in the shade for 15 minutes with beverage of choice. Return with plastic putty knife and remove the vinyl. Reapply stripper and finish removing glue. I tried heat and 3M eraser. The PPG stripper was the least labor intensive. A gallon of the PPG stripper will also strip $75 from you wallet.

Winter's going to be over soon. This is still an ongoing project. My problem has been in finding anyone willing to sell me the PPG DuraPrep Prep502. I haven't found a source online and, when I ask, local paint shops look at me like I've I've got three eyeballs.

Does anyone know of a source for DuraPrep Prep502 willing to work with do it your selfers?

At $75.00 that would be one of the cheapest strippers that I purchased :E

WD40 was really good at removing adhesive residue when I removed graphics from our Sunline travel trailer. I used a hair dryer (heat gun would work) and plastic scrapers.

I striped the sun stroked black graphic on one side with a heat gun and the other side using a 3M Stripe Off Wheel. Heat gun was a bit of work but didn't cost anything since I already had the gun. The wheel was really quick and easy but cost me $27 a wheel and I needed two. Both left a bit of residue what wiped off with mineral spirits. The area under the graphic was almost pure white and was slightly noticable in bright sun light. Just something to consider.

I did a small set of graphics on the rear of my coach to replace with a custom graphic that I had made. It was a royal pain, but I finally did it without damaging the structure or finish. Best method was a hair dryer and a lot of patience. Solvents made the color on the graphics run and then there was the whole problem of the color staining the surrounding surface of the coach. I did use one of those plastic scrapers to help get the stickers off once they were heated. You will be left with some of the glue and there really isn't any other way to get that off except for a solvent of some sort. I used Goo Gone and lots of elbow grease.

Good luck!
