The Inevitable Has Happened!

After getting 5 staples in my head from the TV hanging down,I received "yet another" motorhome lesson today.

In another thread, I posted about our new macerator overheating and stopping. I tore it apart today, and sure enough, the blade had cloth wrapped around it and blocking 90%. So, after cleaning it out, it pumped out both of our tanks without a bit of hesitation.

So, we decide to head to the grocery. A mile down the road, I cannot remember shutting off the black tank rinser valve. So, we turn around and head back. I check the valve, and it is indeed off.

So, FF around 3 hours. I enter the mh to get a cup of joe, and step in water flowing out from under the bathroom door. YIKES! I run outside, 'round the back of the MH, and duck, not quite low enough, and catch my noggin AGAIN on that sharp corner of the slideout. Another hole in the head, not as bad as the last one. The tank rinser was on! I do not remember turning it on after returning from the store. It took us about an hour to clean up the mess, shampoo a bit of the carpet, and wash the hard floors.

On the upside, we have one clean blackwater tank!

:S

End of today's lesson. Not looking forward to the next one!

Our prior coach did not have a driver side bedroom slide, this one does. I often get up from working in the utility bay and take two steps to the rear of the coach to a sudden stop against the side of the slideout, not the edge, yet, that has swim noodle on it.

Now days I try to do all hookups and disconnects with the slides retracted!

Our trailer has a rear slide that I almost faceplant into when walking around the trailer. Another vote for pool noodles, just hanging down almost to the ground. I must be checking out something low when I almost walk into the slide out.
Have any of you noticed that the more the hair line recedes, the more frequent and larger the bumps on the noggin become? :S The voice of experience speaking.:)

I know your pain! I was apparently moving a bit faster than you when I had my encounter with the corner of the slide and ended up with an even dozen staples. Too bad the noodles were on the dash. I wear a bicycle helmet when working around the coach with the slides out now. I have a picture that makes Frankenstein's monster look a little tame!

X2 or 3 on the swimming pool noodles. After we first got our MH I cracked my noggin several times on either of the slides (didn't matter which one, if I was close to one of them, I bonked my head). Saw another MH with the noodles on the ends of the slides, went home and appropriated one of the granddaughters pool noodles and walla (sp?) instant relief.

Aha! Another reason not to have slide outs.

Ah the age old question. Raise the bridge or lower the river.

I can give you a rather drastic cure for your over endowment of height. I personally am half way through the process. I've had my left leg removed above the knee, once the right one matches I will no longer have this problem.

BUT! I have been having second thoughts about some of the unforeseen problems with this cure. Accessing the top cabinets will be a lot more difficult. Without the extra weight of the limbs I should be able to pull myself up the ladder to access the top of the rig. Now if I could just lose some of the belly so it doesn't bounce off the rungs. I may have to have a conference with the jolly fellow in the red suit and see if he has any pointers.

y'all need a pool swimming noodle. cut to desired length and cut a split to apply.

This is what we do too. After both me and my wife ran into the slide with our face, we bought a swimming noodle. Its the first thing that goes on the slide once its out... 🙂

Early on, I joined the 'bump-my-head-on-the-slide' club. It almost knocked me out and somehow, I didn't get a scar. I fell to the ground and scraped my knee's, most of the blood came from there.

For some reason, when walking around the motorhome, my head automatically cocks at a 45 degree angle and I get 2 ft. shorter..... all automatic I tell you! 🙂

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one to have done this. I did it at Fort Myers Beach in my previous coach in close proximity to the neighbors and they made snide remarks all weekend about the smells they had to endure during the episode. I felt horrible.

It also makes you wonder what kinds of substances are all around our RVs at the campsites. How many folks have had similar problems with the sewage running everywhere? Subsequent campers have no idea of what happened.

Never had that happen, when I forgot the flush valve. Tiffin's black tank system is sealed up to the roof vent. Have had to clean the roof twice in 9 years of owning this motorhome. Not fun either, but much better than cleaning carpet and possibly replacing flooring due to a toilet overflow. BTW both times the vent overflowing chose the door area of the roof to run off of. Aaargh!
