trip to Iowa concerns!

I will be heading to Iowa to HWH factory for a jack upgrade on my Beaver DP the beginning of July. Only time that they have available that month.

Question is, I am going to be headed that way the 2nd of July so will be traveling over the 4th weekend.

Is it best just to wing it,stop at truck stops on the way... as all RV parks have 3 day reservations only that weekend so 1 night stays aren't going to work. Plan on three days to get there from Florida and arrive the 5th, but have a reservation at a close by park for the weekend...Sat-Sun-Monday....

I just stay at rest stops. HWH has hookups but they are not open on sundays so I usually have a monday appointment. I have stayed at the rest stop right before their exit and get there early in the morning when they open. Never had a problem finding a spot in the summer in many years. Only one problem in Ohio if 14 years and that was because the closed all the rest stops and the trucks filled the truck stops. I found a Flying J and an RV spot.

HWH has parking spots and there's also a RV park about 1 mile away that customers use. Give HWH a call for details and for coming in early to get a spot.

be sure to verify your appointment with hwh a few days in advance.
the month of july is one of the busiest months for hwh because of the winnebago grand national rally.
get there early. there are parking spaces available, with electric hookups, first come first serve. there are also plenty of dry camping spots.
if you arrive early afternoon, you will have a better chance of a spot.
there are other campgrounds near by. the only close restuarants are in tipton, 9 miles north. the good one next door closed a couple of years ago. there goes the pie.

You will be traveling thru the land of Casino's. They are the best places for a safe, secure, and peaceful evening.

Check out CLICKY to see if any will fall on your route.

It might be that to reserve a campsite you have to reserve a 3 night stay, but if you just arrive and there is availability then you can just stay the one night. The Corp lake and SRA's here in nebraska are that way.

Dont know your route but Ohio State Parks will require a 3 night sttay minimum. 3, 4, & 5 July.

Personally I would wing it!

I doubt you will find that "every" campground requires 3 night stays. I enjoy staying at Wal-Mart's and truck stops when I am just trying to get from point A to point B, but I have lots of batteries and a large inverter so I only have to run the generator in the evening while cooking and a bit more and then a bit in the morning before we leave. The drive will charge us back up again.
Are you going to need A/C all night in July? If so, you may end up running the generator 10-15 hours but that's still likely not too much more than it would have cost to stay at a campground.
Either way you will be OK, it's just a matter of what you want to do and where you want to do it.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Wing it!
There is many campgrounds and other locations. We have used Cabela, Pro Bass shops, Home Depot and Lowes.
OP didn't say exactly when his appointment is. My guess it is after the fourth by a few days. Just because he is leaving on the 2nd doesn't mean his appoint is on the fifth. That would be a quick trip from Florida.

Guess I'm a little confused... as usual. I do not see any problem with getting a one night CG on Wed 2 and Thurs 3 while in route as running your generator for 15 hours will pay for a cheap CG. I'd move my reservation up to starting on Friday the 4th as it's only 1200 miles to Moscow IA. Is Monday a Holiday too and when is your appointment?
