Waste Macerating System

We have parked our motor home on a lot which has a sewer discharge located approximately 300' away. I was considering installing a macerating system to pump our waste to it but not sure if the distance is to far. What do those of you with experience say about this idea? Can a macerator push waste this distance. The distance is a gentle downward slop.

OK, the toilet was in the shop, not the house, I am smarter than that! My plan for home pumpout, the reason I bought this, is to install a feed to my septic tank that runs lose enough to my parking spot to be able to dump here instead of worrying about finding a dump on the way back.

My plan is to put spring clips on the power wiring and pull power off the genset. I may run the wire permanently in the spring. Going to get a 3/4 or 1" hose long enough to reach my septic tank at home, might get two shorter hoses. Will definitely get a different color hose, probably Black.

just be sure if you need permits, etc. that you are installing a clean out, NOT a RV dump.

OK my friends, the job is done. I needed to move the motor home closer to the house to get my 3/4 inch hose to reach the sewer drain which turned into a nightmare because the ground was wet and we got stuck in mud up to the axle. I tried using the rear hydraulic jack to lift the tire in order to put something under the tires and the Jack sunk into the ground at its full length. I spent two hours digging it out then filled the hole and called for a tow. I guess the sewer issue was not my biggest problem compared to that. Well, the hose and macerator is doing a fine job so thank you all for your responses. Total length of hose needed was 75'.

One of the funniest malaprops we ever heard was from a salesman who raved about the fact that the rig we were looking at had an "emaciator" We laughed then ran!

If it is downhill all the way then it should be just fine. I would use "at least" a 3/4" water line. Everything runs downhill just fine as long as there are not "ups" along the way.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

The house outside sewer access is at least 300 ft. away but I have shortened the distance to 200 ft because of the information you all have shared. I still need to purchase the macerator so everything is still in limbo for now.

How close to the house? 300'? If you're parked close to the house, look for the drain cleanout. That's what we use when "camping" at the kid's house...Dennis

Thank you all for your responses. The lot belongs to a friend who has kindly offered to let us park our motor home close to the house. We are full timers. The house has a sewer access port next to it but too far away for the usual hook ups. I think the macerator is my only solution but don't want any surprises if I go this route so your suggestions are really helping. I will post my findings once this project is finished ??

Elevation difference plays a part in the equation also. If you use a large enough pipe size that does not create any friction loss, you can pump for miles - on level ground. Myself, if the RV site was going to be there for a while, I would install a small septic tank and leachfield.

I doubt you'll be able to push it 300'. It won't get it done with a hose smaller than 1". I've done 150' and that was pushing it using 5/8 hose.

You don't want 300' of poop in a hose that won't pump...just sayin.....Dennis

I have a Flojet also....use it to pump 75' with a 2' rise using 3/4" hose. Motor gets pretty warm so I take a break between pumping tanks.

I don't think Flojet will pump 300'

Per Flojet Tech Sheet:
Hose Size---------Maximum Hose Length
5/8” (16 mm)---------25 feet (7.5m) max
3/4” (19 mm)---------50 feet (15m) max

Recommended lengths are based on horizontal discharge. Longer discharge runs create higher resistance and may result in the pump motor over heating

Flojet Tech Sheet

That garbage disposal set up posted by 'rv2go' most likely would pump 300'

I use the Flowjet. 75' uphill about 7 feet. I use a 3/4" hose. If I needed to go 300', I would want 1" PVC pipe, if possible. But, you would then have a 300' hard PVC pipe running down the path. They make 1" garden hoses. But, that would cost a fortune.

I think it would work though!

Good luck.

I use a Flojet Macerator Pump Model 18555 with a 3/4" hose. It will do the job with ease. It uses 12 volts from your battery. Here is the best price I know of: http://www.adventurerv.net/flojet-portable-macerator-waste-pump-p-629.html
