Was stopped at an intersection last night, a 2 axle box truck came up on my left side and his mirror hit my mirror. Don't know why he was hugging the right side of his lane, probably was distracted, or maybe just an idiot. Turned my mirror 90 degrees, I blew my horn at him, but as soon as the light turned green, he was off. Couldn't believe it, the good thing, I couldn't see any damage last night, and looked everything over this mronign, and can believe it, but I don't even see any scratches. Needless to say I was a little,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ah, won't say it, but now, I'm better.

supercub,
Clearly, the truck was in the wrong whether you were crowding or not providing you were stopped. If one hits something that is not moving he does not have his vehicle under control.

Maybe I was not clear, I was STOPPED at a red light, and the truck came up on my left side....even if I was hugging (which I was not) his side, as he drove up next to me, why didn't he stop?

I drive a lot in my job and have for 35 years. Driving is worse now, I think, as I see people looking at their cell phones and Ipads, etc. Have seen truckers texting, so I'm with Supercub. Fortunately I haven't had an experience like his in the MH, but I learned long ago to try to think for the other person, since they may not be doing so. But if someone comes up on you and you can't move, definitely dookey happens.

Hey OnaQuest why would you take exception to supercub having a bad day and stating that the individual was either distracted or an idiot? If the other driver was paying attention then he would of either not hit supercub or would of pulled over after clipping him. Or as supercub stated maybe he was an idot and did not care that he clipped supercub. One thing that you are right about is that doodoo does happen, like a whee falling off or maybe a blow out on a tire that's doodoo. Just perplexed as why it bother's you. I think that most of us agree with supercub. Have a good day.

Like many others I have had some close calls. I am thinking of running the mirror and rear cameras into a DRV so I have proof of who was in what lane if there ever is a connection.

I once had a school bus take my drivers mirror completely off. Happened in a construction area. I pulled off, but the bus kept going. LEOs could not find him. At least I had lots of amazed construction workers as witnesses.

Time to invest in a GoPro or Sony action cam and have it rolling all the time. That way there is no dispute of whose lane they are in.

Until recently I used to have my left mirror sticking out on the left side and it always worried me. I have pushed it forward and now look out the windshield and down the side of the RV. It brings it in a good 8-10 inches.

Ona?....were you in Cubbies coach?.....NOT

No, I wasn't, and you weren't either. I just took exception to someone stating that the only two possibilities are that the other person was "distracted" or was automatically an "Idiot".

There are always two sides to every "story" and certainly more than two possible causes of the stated incident. Sometimes doodoo just occurs.

OnaQuest....I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong, but in this case, I was stopped and as close as I could tell was not hugging either line. Thanks for the encouraging words, like they say, there's one in every crowd, and you win this time. Someone almost wiped out what I've worked several years for. A very upsetting experience, and then someone has to make what they think is a funny remark, sorry, I don't think it was funny.
Takes a lot for me to get mad, but sir you pushed the wrong button.

Just leaving Zion on the way to Bryce clashed mirrors with another MH going the opposite direction. Narrrow road, no shoulder, we both moved over but struck a glancy blow. Loud noise but only a scuff luckily. Not sure but it looked like one of them road hog DPs. ๐Ÿ™‚

That happened to me two years ago. But, I was parked parked on the main drag in Coos Bay, OR. A local fuel delivery truck hit my driver's side mirror and nearly took it off. Luckily he stopped and called his boss who immediately came over. They admitted it was their fault, and they landed up paying for a new mirror and labor installation at the Monaco factory just up the road. It cost them $800.00! But Monaco only sold them in pairs so I got a spare passenger mirror which I sold. I feel your pain.
