What would you buy for a $175,000?

From what I’ve learned from you about buying a used coach is nothing is more important than the chassis and the best chassis is the semi-monocoque because of its strength and rigidity! I also understand that an aluminum/metal exterior is also the best.

Its my understanding that both of these things are available on the Monaco and Country Coach in the years I’m looking for. I have to stay with a coach that is no more than 10 years old because I’ll need to finance part of it.

I’m looking for;

• 2005 to 2010
• 45’ Motorhome
• Bath and a half
• Two or more slides
• King sized bed or Queen

What do you think and I'd be happy to hear other recommendations you have?

Thanks for your help,

I'd bet he was asking for other brands of MHs that meet those five requirements, not a vacation or buying rental property.

I'd say this 05 Exe can be bought for less than $145K with new tires. The Detroit engine is the same as Prevost, Newell, and Foretravel use. While not a bath and half, having two bathroom sinks is all we need. While it's only 43', this floor plan works well for us as half timers.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

We are telling him what we think, and/or giving recommendations, as he asked.

Nice idea. You ever been a landlord?

Yes, I've had rental property for over 30 years. But, last year I sold all the monthly rentals and started buying nightly condo rentals in Branson. No more tenant drama, and a nice place to visit frequently!

I would try and buy this one: They might not go that low but it would be worth the offer and a steal if you could get it for 175,000.

Therein lies one of the problems with asking for opinions; everybody doesn't agree with what you want!
First, IMO I do not need nor do I want a 40+ foot motorhome. It just won't fit in many of the places I want to go!
Second, DW and I just don't NEED a bath and a half.
Third, IMO the ideal coach will be 11 years old or older, so that I can put PERMANENT license plates on it and never have to renew the registration as long as I own it!
Fourth, IMO one slide is sufficient.
IMO, the ideal coach would be 32 to 34 feet long, diesel pusher, Cummins, with 5000 lbs. minimum towing capacity. IF the plan was for full-timing, it could be as much as 36 feet long, with 10K towing capacity, and a washer/dryer combo installed.

Fast forward 10 years; the motorhome is paid for (with rental income) and now worth $30k....BUT the house is now worth over $200k.
Now I'm too old for the motor home, I sell it for $30k, use the cash to remodel the rent house, and sell or move in!
I call this a WIN!

I would look pre 06 so you avoid the EGR emission stuff and I would add in 42 foot plus. I know with my layout now and two slides, I have much more storage then the new 45 footers have. I love my Foretravel but you will not find a 45 foot quad slide for your price.

I would add that I would have no issue with an 05 as it will be cheaper too and think about going down to a couple more years and maybe you do not have to finance it.

I think you've narrowed it down to a couple of good choices. I wouldn't buy anything newer than 2008 on the Monaco side. They went out of business in 2009 and some coaches were not done so well. The Executive or Signature would be fantastic. We were just in Quartzsite last month and there were two lots with several Executives and Signatures that were still beautiful.

I also have to say that I still see Country Coaches on the road that the paint looks like it was just painted yesterday.
