Workhorse Wheelmaster lug nuts

Can anybody tell me where to get new lug nut covers for my Workhorse W-22 chassis with 22.5 Wheelmaster wheel covers? These have a nut captured inside instead of just a push on cover like the old P30s have. Someone has damaged a couple of them and it takes a bigger size socket to remove them. I want to be prepared to remove them when I get ready to rotate the tires or service the brakes. Yes, I intend to do those myself not pay to have it done. My Dad taught me way back two things: If you want it done right do it yourself. Don't pay anyone else to do something you can do yourself.

I can tell you with certainty that 4 of my lugs on each wheel have the bumps on them and need a little muscle to be removed to get to the actual lug nuts themselves. After that the others still require the same 1 5/16" socket to remove them. It takes my 3/4" drive ratchet and a 4 ft. pipe to break them loose. That may equate to a 33mm. but one of the four has been abused and requires a 1 3/8" to remove. I have not yet tried to actually remove a wheel as it has been too wet and cool but I'm going to try that this weekend. I did find them for sale at Fleetwood's website for $14 each. Kind of pricey to me. I am going to look at a truck stop or two on my next trip. I just hope I can match the originals.

I got my 33MM (1/2" Drive)at AutoZone for about $15.00. It was an impact socket so if needed you can use a it as such.

Maybe I don't need any new nuts after all. I didn't know about the Metric thing but I tried two of the covers and the undamaged appearing one was a 1 5/16". the damaged looking one took a 1 3/8". The inners on those two were 1 5/16" also. Now I will know that there are two different sizes on purpose. The only large Metric I have is 36mm which was too big anyway. Guess I may need to get a 33mm.

We bought our used MH in October and found that the wheel cover nut removal tool (T-Handle) was missing. The chrome covered nut holding on the simulators worked out to be a 1 9/16" (44mm) socket. Unfortunately the previous owner or tire shop decided impacting this nut on was a good idea. So I purchased a cheap socket (not so cheap for that size) to get them off along with the 33mm impact socket for the lug nuts.

for my workhorse I use a 44mm socket for the 2 lugs that hold on wheel cover they will have dimples on them or tap on them you will feel the 2 that are solid

You are correct, you will need two different size sockets. I don't remember the sizes off hand but the one size will remove the two with the nipples on to remove your wheel cover and than the other to remove your actual lugnuts. I purchased mine at camping world a bunch of years ago. I only replaced the two because I am assuming the previous owner must have damaged or battered them trying to remove them possibly with the wrong size socket. These don't have to be nearly as tight as the wheel lugs which are torqued at about 450 ft lbs. I removed the small locking nut from the damaged chrome caps and carefully tapped the smaller nuts into the new chrome caps. Good luck, Don

I'm pretty sure that you do not put a socket over the lug nut covers to remove the lug nuts. Look and see if there are a couple of nuts that hold the stainless steel cover, which is removed, and then the socket is placed directly on the lug nut after the covers have been removed.

Have you looked at a truck stop for the covers?

My manual suggests not rotating the tires. It can be done but it's not easy.
