Here in New England - 7/4 is Clamboil day, with Lobster........

I see the price of lobster is going up but still reasonable @ 5.99/lb for up to 1.25 pounders at my end. Enjoyed getting them at 3.99 but knew that couldn't last.

Do you season the water for a clamboil?

BBQ chicken and some pulled pork in good tangy sauce, not too sweet. Maybe North Carolina mustard style, on some this year. some burgers. Good potato salad. Yellow sweet corn that squirts when you push in on a kernel. Fresh tomatoes, and anything fresh at the Farmers Market, peaches, apples. Really want some good peaches. Good dark green striped, sweet and cold water melon . Some good cold Sand Mountain, Al cantaloupe. Homemade vanilla ice cream and home made yellow cake with whipped frosting.
No way can I eat it all but I'll try a bite of as much, of the feast, as I can.
Lots, of fresh brewed ice tea, poured hot over ice, all the day long.
Hope I can persuade Brothers to put on a fireworks show across the creek. Want to watch all the kids out there having a ball. Maybe get everyone to play cards to late. Get Son In Law tell some stories. Maybe get Sisters to lead in some Gospel singing. I've got to get a piano.
Hard to believe June is hard upon us. Just got the last of the snow off the porches, it seems.
Hope everyone eats too much, and has a great Fourth even if it is mite early.

Stuffed peppers with bacon. I like using chorizo, cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese and a few special seasonings.

Here's what we do;
Johnsonville Brats what ever flavor you like
Brown them on a grill, being careful not to crack the case!!
While browning, mix in an aluminum pan (cheap disposable) Grilled onions (browned in a pan with garlic and butter prior).
1 quart of cheap Lager beer,3 tablespoons of Dark Brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic.
Bring pan to a simmer,,add Brats (4-6)bring to a rapid simmer,, continue to cook Bats and sauce until mixture thickens to a syrupy consistency. then take off of heat and allow to cool down a bit (eating temp).

This is usually done on the BBQ and referred to as a Brat Jacuzzi!!
Sauce and Brats on a bun are wonderful!!

What is "ABT's"?
Smoked prime ribs sounds awfully yummy! What wood will you use?

Here's hoping your DD will be with you for the holiday; none of my sons will be here but I've lots of other family members and friends to fill some of the void:).

Here in Texas, it's BBQ (of any kind of meat, mainly beef), Beer/Wine (always goes with the pit burning)or any adult beverage, with potato salad (hot or cold)/green (pastas')salad, beans, possibly corn on the cob, breads and desserts of all kinds. Cold drinks for the kiddos'. We do it up different every year. Sometimes Seafood boils or fries.

Since the weather and paperwork deprived me of getting away this weekend I've spent part of my time planning my Independence Day menu. Also watching the Steven Raichlen marathon on CreateTV for inspiration.

Anyway, noticed that a local mart is having the following sale:

Our Mighty Beef Porterhouse Steaks - Limit 8 - $5.99 lb. SAVE $5 lb.

and

No Antibiotics โ€ข No Hormones Stew's Naked Loin Lamb Porterhouse Chops - $5.99 lb. SAVE $4 lb.

and I know that various berries will be in season by the end of June.

So my menu(we invite people up for the day and many are there from breakfast until the next morning/early afternoon)is currently:

4th of July Breakfast

berry shakes
OJ
granola
fresh fruit bowl
yogurt
coffee and tea courtesy of the nearby Dunkin' Donuts

4th of July Lunch
burgers, stuffed and virgin
local made franks(Hummel Bros. means it's summer!)
Polish sausage from Greenpoint,Bklyn.(slurpy yum yum)
toppings for the above: chopped avocado, sliced tomatoes, grilled 'shrooms, + onions; lettuce, homemade fast pickled radishes, bread and butter pickles; half sour pickle wedges and quick pickled cukes slices. All the toppings should make the vegetarians of whatever ilk happy no matter their type.
watermelon slices.
sparkling water, lemonade and homemade ginger ale

4th of July Dinner

Bloody Mary shrimp boil
steaks
grilled brined chicken
whole Swiss chard stuffed grilled fish
grilled marinated tofu
ratatouille served rm temp
potato salad
hot peaches and shortbread w/ whipped cream and vanilla ice cream.

The morning after breakfast is always dependent on the day's before leftovers. Prolly steak and or sausage and eggs. Plus banana pancakes. Maybe chicken hash.'Course I'll pull out some of my frozen hash browns and leftover fruit.

As for the lamb steaks....they'll show up for my Bastille Day party which we also celebrate with every French rooted person and Francophile we know. Nice that I can use the same ol table colours as a week or so before;).
