Seems that this whole thing has degenerated into just a D.O.G advertisement.

Guess I'll just have to pass.

Don't get me wrong... I never said the D.O.G. posts were unwelcome, inappropriate, or anything like that; I just said I was amazed. Probably in large part because all I know about dutch ovens can be summed up as: it's some sort of pot with a lid. My wife says they can be buried in coals, who'd'a thunk it? Maybe I should go to one of these D.O.G. gatherings and beg some free food samples... find out what all the shoutin's about. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Why? They eventually fall down off the page. You can always block magnusfide and never see his postings, that way the DOG postings won't bother anyone.

And I was about to say something until Francesca mentioned it about the nuwave and the induction cooking ones. I mean they don't appeal to me so I usually don't look at them or open then up. I just look at the subject headings that appeal to me and go there.

X2 like was said: it's clear in the post topic what it's about. If you aren't interested don't read it. There's a lot more threads asking the same thing over and over ad nauseam about Myrtle Beach and vacuums. What do you do about those Escargot? Complain about them too?

I'll repeat: there's a great deal of diversity among RVers. Accept or walk away. You're not in charge of an exclusive rv club where members can only talk about things YOU like. Most RVers I know have the mature attitude to enjoy that diversity. That's an immense gift to be able to appreciate new and diverse people. It's one of the aspects that makes RVing great. Oorah!

Right. I mean, a person's hobby is their hobby, right? I would never Ibelittle or make fun of a hobby of...oh, I don't know...taking stereoscopic (3D) pictures. :W That said, its obvious your post was tongue in cheek. BTW, if you go to a DOG,.you won't have to beg; they'll be more than happy to share. And another btw, I'd love to see how one takes a stereoscopic (3D) picture! :B

From the pioneer day to Boy Scouts to hunting camp, Dutch ovens have been a part of cooking over what's available. that says camping all over it.
It's laughable that a complaint would come from someone promoting a new item that needs electricity.

Went to our first NDOG last year in Arkansas and had a great time. Had no idea how involved these people can get. And, dang it, I/we got the bug. Hope to do a prime rib roast this weekend and am planning on the next NDOG in Sept. To us is a lot of fun, but to each their own.
Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!

I didn't either- even went back to the O.P.'s old posts trying to figure it out!

Weird that he'd take exception to posts about dutch oven gatherings- at least those are outdoor, recreational/camping related. His main theme seems to be promoting the Nuwave cooker...Link to one example

Not exactly standard camping equipment!

Really! I've been using DO's for decades, always outdoors and never plugged in. I have had a NuWave for about a year and it is handy, but I can cook more variety in my Dutch's.

heaven forbid rexlion they start having BBQ gatherings or something.
I wish I could make more of the D.O.G's because i know most of the participants apparently camp, whoda thought.

Makes it look like he's selling the nuwave because he never posts on anything else unless he's stalking magnusfide. The archives don't lie. Notify the moderator when he does.

P.I.G.s = Pie Iron Gatherings. Well played. Maybe you could suggest a special PIG competition at the DOGs. The people I've met at DOGs are friendly and always willing to help you out. They come from all walks of life and so far I've met park rangers, an astronaut, several bankers, military personnel (who introduced me to it). Then there are the old hippies, the cowboys, the college professors and plenty of others. Good food makes for good company. I'm glad to join the Cast Iron fraternity.

Well, there have been a whole bunch of D.O.G. (Dutch oven gathering) posts lately. I am amazed that people get so excited about cooking in a dutch oven while camping that they would want to have gatherings in various states. What's next, Weber gatherings? Pie iron get-togethers? Wok meets?

Have to agree with RayUSMC....people get excited about BBQ events, chili cook offs and lots more....why not get excited about learning how to cook things you never thought you could in such a versatile single pot. While I've only cooked a handful of things in my dutch oven, my DVR is set to record several shows around dutch oven cooking (Cee Dub's, Johnny Nix and Campfire Cafe). I enjoy seeing all you can make in them.

And yes I lik pie irons too.... wish there were some P.I.G.'s (Pie iron gatherings)...lol
