Have been flirting with the idea of getting one of these.
Char-Broil The Big Easy Oil-Less TRU Infrared Turkey Fryer

While the reviews seem good, I'm a bit concerned about the reviews that talk about the bottom falling out or fires starting. Anyone have feedback to add?

I've had mine for years also and no problems. I've never even seen or thought about fried chicken in one for some reason. I'm going to have to correct that.

Thanks all. I think I'll put it on my Christmas list.

We've had a Big Easy for years, and have had zero problems with it. If you do a search of this forum, you'll see a recipe for Buttermilk "Fried" Chicken. It's our favorite use of our Big Easy.

We have one.

Probably use it 2-3x a month. You have to put it together correctly or I can see where it can get really flimsy. We had a few issues with the grease catching drawer but narrowed down the rails a bit and it works fine now.

The chicken comes out really crispy and moist. We prep the chicken and put it in to cook. Then we just do other stuff while it cooks.

We really enjoy it and have cooked a variety of meals in it. While it doesn't use oil, the taste is very much like fried (especially if you run whatever you're cooking in oil first.

I have this also. When hubby was with me, we used it a lot with no problems at all. I recommend it.

I bought one for my husband several years ago and while he can't use it anymore I can and I really like it. I got the Charbroil Infrared Cooker. I love deep fried turkey but I am not able to handle lifting the turkey out of the hot oil, to short! The infrared unit sits down lower to the floor so I don't have that problem. The taste is very similar to the fried, I highly recommend it.

some of the reviews said poor quality and broken parts after 1st use. Still the majority had excellent reviews. I also found an electric one made by Butterball at Target for $129.99 that says it holds a 14 pound turkey. I'm going to check it out. thanks for the info! I hate cooking turkeys!!

I have one and they do work well. Using them often enough to justify the purchase could be come an issue. There was a post on here about frying chicken in one that was interesting.
I've done oil fried and this is hands above it in ease and safety. The product is about the same.

I have one. It makes a nice juicy roasted turkey or chicken; only holds about 10 pounds.

Have also used for pork country spareribs (the meaty type) by using bent wires or paperclips to suspend from the wire cover. This is a Chinese method that results in ribs that do not have a lot of grease.

Never had true fried turkey because of oil cost and fire hazard. The oil-less makes a nice piece of meat but I wouldn't really say its the same as fried.

Wouldn't it be a roasted or baked turkey then?
I do mine on my Holland grill (companion) on the road and use it for everything.

With almost 400 reviews on Amazon, how much more feedback to you really need?
