Been awhile since we've done a SPAM recipe thread. Now that it's available in low sodium and "lite" versions maybe it's time to revive this treat.

I like to take a quarter inch slice and toast it up in the pan with a little bacon grease and eat it between two pieces of toast with lettuce, tomato and cheese anytime of the day or night.

How do you do SPAM?

I've been buying a Danish version of SPAM from Costco. It comes in multi-can packages, and I love it. "Jamonilla@"

Read an article a few weeks ago that gourmet chefs are now featuring SPAM in a number of their dishes. It's a thing apparently. Link

Do you eat ANYTHING with flour? You're eating processed food. ANYTHING out of a box, can, or sealed bag, you're eating processed food.

I LOVE M&Ms, but they're the WORST. So much so I use them as an example of dangerous processed food. In fact, the American version is illegal in every country outside of the US. I still have them occasionally.

Moderation combined with knowledge. Enjoy the M&Ms

So according to you, if anyone has a real distaste for it, they're not allowed to voice their opinion. Any Doctor or Dietician will tell you about processed foods and that they are not good for the body.

So my reply would be. This is a fun forum. People are posting to have fun and see what others do with Spam that like Spam. I'm thinking that if you believed persons were looking to hear from people that don't like Spam, then I think, you're likely mistaken. Everyone knows about processed foods, foods with nitrates, nitrites, too much salt, too much sugar, too much fat etc. I suppose if someone stated that putting rat poison on their pies 'cause it made a nice sheen on the finished product.......that would be a great time to chime in.......IMHO

Spam is nothing like pork roll. I like spam, but eat pork roll a lot. Scapple is another good processed meat thing.
As for recipes try a spam cassarole, lol, cheese a few eggs , milk , add some onions cube and fry up the spam, toss with a fozen bag of tator tots and bake for like 45 mins at 350. Its good. But you can't eat it every day.

OMG!!! Scrapple, hopefully with fried cornmeal mush maple syrup & a couple of fried eggs. Used to be able to get scrapple at Publix supermarkets in Florida, but alas, no more. Same with cornmeal mush; polenta is as close as they get now, but not quite the same.

We always have a can of Spam in the rv. We are often out many miles from anything and if there is nothing to make a sandwich with, that is it. We eat it cold and hot. Fried with melted cheese on toast - yum.

I love when this subject pops up! ??. I sing the praises of SPAM all the time. I am 71, in fair health, no cholesterol problems or high blood pressure. I have eaten SPAM as far back as I can remember. It has seen me through some lean times and the good times. I have carried it with me in the single serve foil packs on over 15 mission trips to Central America. I can truly say it has kept me from going hungry a few times. I DO NOT eat rice or beans fixed any way you fix them. I make a meal of SPAM and crackers if that is all I can get. The only SPAM I don't care for is the barbecue flavored. I used to love to take a can of SPAM to the deer stand for lunch. Open it up, take out the hunting knife, cut it up in the can and have a meal.... The good old days. ?

All About SPAM

There is pretty much nothing about spam I don't like. It helped American and allied troops. Keeps forever. When we go to Hawaii it is in all kinds of yummy foods. I keep a can or two in the pantry at home and in the trailer. A diced spam omelette is a thing to behold! In reality I use spam where ever ham can be used a thoroughly enjoy it. Also, there is another product I have my eyes on and that is "Taylor Pork Roll", also known as Taylor Ham. Thinking it is a Jersey version of Spam...not sure though. I have a recipe to make Taylor Pork Roll(I make sausage as a hobby)and before my next trailer outing I will have some homemade Taylor Ham with us. Keep the Spam Jam alive!
