DTV wouldn't leave the bedroom receiver

I ordered Directv a few days ago and they agreed to install my home receiver and give me a bedroom unit for my RV. Today, DTV came out to install the dish antenna and receiver into my farmhouse. I asked them to leave the bedroom receiver so I could install it in my MH.

They refused to leave it stating that they would come out to wherever my MH was and install it for me. They said it was against their policy to leave the receiver without installing it. The guy even called his boss to confirm.

I'm not picking up my new coach until the end of September so it's not a big deal, I just don't know if I should press DTV to come out and install it or I can get the receiver from someone else without all the drama.

Any suggestions?

I have been a happy customer on Directv for 15 years. That said, they probably just want to charge another $50 to come back out and do the install in the RV.

Turns out that North Trail RV has them in stock. They said it would be no problem to install it in the MH when I pick it up.

Could of just ran a cable over the floor into the room from another outlet. That's what I did. Installer didn't care.

That's exactly what I did, ... both the HD-DVR & the HD for the bedroom. When the coach was ready I just moved them from the house, plugged them into the coach and never looked back. They stay in the coach full time.

Me too. DTV doesn't even know I have an RV. They think all my receivers are in the house. The RV is listed as a "Guest Bedroom."

The reason they have to install it before you can just have it is because the tech has to register it. Your tech could have just connected it to where the one in your house is and registered it there, but he just wasn't smart enough.

When DirecTv did the install in my travel trailer, there was no way he could get through the trees to get a signal to register my receivers. He took them home with him and connected them at his house and registered them there. He brought them back to me the next day.

I would have had them install it in a bedroom and then removed it to take with you in the RV when you need it. When you don't, use it in the bedroom. Ours stays in our fifth wheel during the camping season (April - Oct/Nov) and then in the girls playroom during the winter months. It's easy, just unplug and remove the cable, take to the RV, plug up power, connect the cable wire to the appropriate spot in the RV.

They will also hit you with another $50 service fee.
