When I bought new truck, it come with 6 months of Sirus service.
I was flooded with letters giving me different options for service extensions and ignored them promptly.
I did not drive the truck for weeks (it is camper vehicle) but last week took it for long trip and Sirus still work in 2nd year. :E
Anybody had the same?
Is it going to last?
Now I am thinking about the antenna relocation as with camper it is loosing signal very often.

They always negotiate it down to a fraction of the "retail price" when you complain. I've been on a rolling 3 to 6 month renewal period with them for a couple of years now. They e-mail saying your "promotional rate" is about to expire. I call, say I'm going to cancel and bam! - new "promotional rate" for some fixed period of time (usually 3 to 6 months). When they don't want to play ball anymore I'm done. But, they've priced it just about where it's worth it not to have to use my phone to search through google, amazon, youtube etc. to find what I want to hear. Plus a lot of their DJs are pretty entertaining.

I agree. Somewhat. That's exactly how we do it. But I can't stand those DJs on the classic vinyl and classic rewind channel. I don't care if they are cool and know all the rock stars and hang out at the Hall of Fame and have grey hair like Emmylou Harris blah blah blah. And honestly, I think I've heard every classic rock song recorded in the last 75 years at least a billion times, and hate to say it or admit it, but it's getting old. We've recently started listening to Outlaw Country, and if you want to hear some good old real southern rock and country music, you will love it. Or hate it!

I have a year free subscription with my new truck. Didn't think I'd ever listen to satellite radio, but I do. Although I would consider paying when the year is up, I don't listen to all the content. Do they have plans where you can just pay for a portion of content?

Price gouging is American way of life.
I have the same with Cox Internet.
They gave me promotional rate for 12 months and doubled it when the year expired.
So I call them and they would not extend promotion on basic service, but they had other promotion for upgraded service. So for next 12 months I have upgraded speed for less than basic service.
I am using internet for amazon Firestick TV. The basic service worked with video streaming just fine, regardless COX saying it should not.

I've been doing this with various vehicles for 10 years. Too bad they don't just price it reasonably in the first place.

I agree. I do this every year when I get the renewal notice with a huge price bump. I call and tell them what I will pay, (same as last year) and they always find a way to lower the price to where I want it. First they suggest me getting a cheaper program but that goes away when I tell them I will disconnect the service if I don't get it for what I am willing to pay. It has worked for 3 years so far and yes, I would disconnect if they didn't renew it at the same rate.

This is why I left Comcast (along with their abominable customer service) for DISH several years ago. When my contract with Comcast expired, they would try to double the rate I was currently paying. DISH does seem to have an annual price increase for a very nominal price (usually around $5 a month. Still after 3 years I get better service (way fewer outages) more features and for about half of what Comcast was charging me 3 years ago.
I am NOT a mechanic although I do play one in my garage!

In 2007 I bought a Winnebago that came with a 12 month XM radio subscription. We don't listen to the radio when traveling so we never turned it on after testing it to be sure it worked. About 2 or 3 years later, we discovered that we still had service.

I traded in that Winnebago in April of 2017, and I bet the new owners believe that I am still paying the bill. The XM radio was still working after 10 years.

(I bought an F-150 when I sold the Winnebago, and it came with a 6 month subscription. In a year or two, I will see if it is still functioning.)

For how long?
Even I don't listen to the radio in car very often, I had good time yesterday listening to Hard Rock.
If not for DW turning the volume down, I would have a blast on 10 hr drive.

thru may 29th.

The free promotional has been going on for a while now, maybe more than a week. Don't know how long it will last. Plus, you never know when they're going to hit you with a price hike. I do like the service but feel that my regular stations are good enough for me. ( yes, I'm thrifty)

If they got an email address from you, they'll send you promotional sales stuff every time they have a free week or whatever. I've never been interested in paying for TV audio signals, or music I can get OTA for free. That said, I listen to it sometimes if I remember, while the free period is on.
