Free tv

We went to the Hershey show this past weekend and stopped at a vendor claiming to be able to provide free tv (no cable, no satellite). Of course it was streaming via the internet. They had a box similar to Roku. The vendor was called HEVC Box. One of the big differences was that all the sports channels were absolutely free. Even though the name was HEVC the quality did not seem to be even as good as HD.

We were wondering if anyone has heard of this company and is this legal???

I too use alot of the internet access for live TV and TV SERIES shows that are available the following day after they are aired... Good way for us to keep up with what we missed... We watch "MOP VIDEO TV" and "LIVE TV" here from the internet with pretty good results...

Quality is great on the next day downstreams but the live TV downstreams that are delayed about 5 seconds are not as good for us...

Everyday it seems someone else is offering TV for our devices... Haven't started looking at any of them yet... Even our local provider has something you can use if you have an account with them..

DIRECTV has teamed up with someone and offering SAT TV anywhere on your devices running off the Internet I think... haven't checked up with that one either but that one sounds more promising for us as since we have totally switched to OTA FREE TV using our crank up BATWING setup when camping we sometimes miss a couple of the SAT TV programs like USA, TNT, or HIST channels...

We love the quality of the FREE TV from the local towns... Great move on the NATL BROADCAST setup going to digital TV mode...

This is a 4k box like dozens of others only way more expensive. It runs Kodi like the previous poster said.

There is nothing special about this box than dozens of others.

They are likely just selling some type of Android box running Kodi.
Do some Googleing for Kodi and Raspberry Pi. Kodi can run on Fire sticks and many other devices.
The problem with all of the "free" IPTV stuff is that the show you want may or may not be available. If no one is uploading it to the internet it is not there.

If you're talking about live-stream, there is free television. I have been watching television via UsTvnow.com I get five channels; ABC, CBS, NBD, PBS, and CW. You can upgrade but they have never asked me to or forced me to sign up for more. We haven't had cable at home for a couple of years as we watch local Mexican and national news.

When we travel, we use OTA service, along with ROKU when we have DSL at our snowbird location.

DH does miss the golf channel. Does anyone know of a way to get the golf channel other than satellite or cable? Paying is fine.

That was our concern. We are big NASCAR fans and they actually pulled up NBC sports channel. It wasn't very clear. From what I have read about HEVC (the processing of data from point to point) it should be better than HD.

They said you can watch any football game that is being played... our first thought was what about that "...no rebroadcast of this game..." warning.

It seemed they are getting a signal from somewhere but it didn't make any sense!

Outside of OTA there's no such thing as "free tv". Their site has no details on what channels they support - that's a huge red-flag right there. Assuming you have unlimited bandwidth or an unlimited budget (which of course is unrealistic) I'd be very wary of this device. It's quite expensive for just being a streaming device.
