My Garmin Nuvi200W just quit after 8 faithful years of service. It was working fine when I turned the Jeep off, restarted the Jeep 5 minutes later and no response from the Garmin at all. Can't turn it on; no low battery notice or anything. It just quit.
Is it repairable for less than $150 or do I just save the mount and get a new one...as in the car is so worn out you save the radiator cap and put a new car under it.

What I would do: Use this as a great excuse to get a new one!

What you should do: Check the fuse if you haven't already done so. There is a fuse inside the 12 volt cigar lighter plug.

That's a great price for the 2595! I bought the 2797 for the larger 7" screen and voice command option otherwise they are the same and it's a great unit! The voice command option adds to the price but if it's going to be within arms length of someone this is completely unnecessary. I also got lifetime traffic and maps on mine so that might also account for a slightly different price.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

A few months ago I bought a Garmin 2555LMT w/5" screen from Fry's for $113.00 including tax. It is a refurbished unit but has been great so far. Our first Garmin was purchased in June of 2011 and cost a lot more at Costco and does not have nearly as many features. Love the new one, wish I could go back and get another.

Try Frys.com and all the other places, you'll find a good deal someplace.

well the 2595 is $139 at Costco on sale now and I assume it has a few more bells and whistles than the 2555, and it is not refurbished.

I like the traffic feature of my Garmin. I turn it on every morning on the way to work, and each night going home. I know the way now (been working there for 2 months) yet it is nice to have the traffic updates, mostly to tell me how long I will be sitting on the freeway. If it is to long, I will drive down a country highway, and take a back route. The Garmin will always update me, try to get me back on the freeway, but finally gives up and takes me to a small town, then straight north to my house.

Good luck,

Fred.

I just bought a Garmin 2595 nuvi at Costco for $139. the screen was getting dim on my old one and the maps were outdated. came with lifetime * maps and traffic. cheaper to buy a new one. has some interesting features. it shows the speed limit for where you are and your speed, that changes to red when you exceed speed limit.

Try using an adapter and plugging it into a 120 v outlet in the house. Leave it plugged in for several hours and see if you can then turn it on while still plugged in.

If it is dead, you are better off watching the Black Friday sales and getting yourself a new one. Don't spend $150 on an 8 year old GPS when you will be able to buy a new one for close to that or at least less than $200 including lifetime maps and traffic.

Make sure you have power to it. Could be a few reasons for no power.

To many good deals out there so give the old one a good send off. $150 will get you one with lifetime maps, mount, etc.
