Laptop battery

I have a HP laptop computer that is about two years old. It's been plugged in for a couple of days but shows the battery is at 1% and is not charging. Any suggestions as to how to get it to charge?

Salem, thanks for asking the question, I might look into a knock-off as well. Even though mine is old and is not supported my anyone anymore (Vista OS nonetheless)

...it still is still a working machine for e-mail, Pandora, streaming, etc.

New battery arrived this morning. Installed it and everything seems to be back to normal. Thanks again for all the comments.

It is a 12 year old Toshiba.

I’m not sure I would spend a dime on a 12-year old laptop. But if you want to, you might try Amazon or Batteries Plus.

A friend brought over an HP laptop that wouldn't charge, and the charging light wasn't coming on when she plugged it in. We had to install a new charging port to get it back up to snuff.

I have an HP factory charger, and it has an on/off switch on it.

Batteries Plus. Take it in and get a new one.

A lot of newer HP's the battery is not easily (meaning designed to be user replaced) replaced, You have to open the case. B+ may be able to to that for you. Easy if you know how (I do) but not so easy if you don't.

I had a piece of electronic toast to practice on by the way. Nice thing about Electronic toast is you can't accidently toast it. already done.

When my 12 year old laptop that still works well had battery issues I was shocked at the price of a new one... I bought instead three $10 chargers to keep around the house: one each in the living room, the kitchen and office.

Also check for a BIOS update. Our HP laptops needed an update to fix the charge issue, they would only charge to 50 percent while docked(plugged in).
