Purchased Verizon unlimited data plan

Verizon has an XXL Data Plan that is actually unlimited.
First it is 24GB at 4G
It allows carry-over of unused data.
THEN it has a "safety mode" of additional data if you go over 24G but it is only at 3G at no charge.
When we are on the road we often only have 3G so this is not much of an inconvenience.
Sounds like a good deal to me.

No I don't have one, I just saw one on sale the other day at Frys electronics

They recently lowered prices for data plans. Have you looked into that? $300/mo is really steep.. unless you're using 100G.

We've had the worst time with verizon overage charges. We work from "home" but our bill has steadily increased every month. We are up to $300+ but have a feeling it's going to go up this month. Texting "yes" to increasing data is the worst.

We just switched as well and upgraded the DW's phone to an S7 Edge and about $10 less a month than making no changes. The phone only is costing $20 on their installment purchase plan zero up front. Plus 4 more gigs I'm happy ATM.

CORRECT and you don't have to have the XXL plan to get the 2GB/line bonus data, the safety mode option, carryover data, or ability to change plans back and forth (there is a number limit of doing this per month). I have all this with my XL plan since it first came out and have experienced once the safety mode operation. As Bill has indicated it is NOT 3G and TRUST ME it's slower than a snail and is virtually useless.

All of the current Verizon plans have the same "unlimited" data. After you reach your data limit, you are then throttled back but you do not pay any extra.

If you are on AT&T consider Cricket, it's MVNO alternative they purchased. The unlimited plan is really unlimited and the throttling is done on the front end by giving you 8mbs which is plenty even for services like Vue or Sling. Can't beat their prices, especially if you get a few lines on there.

Works in Canada as well assuming you have the $50 or above option (-5 with auto pay)

Just my thoughts~~~we have a brand new Verizon 4G tower not 500' from our home.
The problem is that no phone other than the newer 4G can access it.
And Verizon is installing newer equipment and software all over the country.
In my area if you don't have a 4G phone you cannot access the newer tower. And it's my understanding that all companies are in the process of doing the same thing. They are forcing you to upgrade your phone service to stay connected.
I first ran into this about a year ago when my wife would not connect to call me from SE AZ when her sisters has no problem. There phones were 4G as was the newer tower there and at the time my wife's phone was only an older 3G.
You might think you have phone service where you really have nothing.

If they throttle back your data speed to 3g after a certain amount that by definition is a restriction or a "limitation" thus your plan is NOT unlimited. Also on a truly "unlimited" Plan there would be no "Carry Over" of "Unused" data as unused implies a limit.

Please understand I am not criticizing you or your decision I am only pointing out that this is a really heinous play on words by Verizon that has made the term "Unlimited" virtually meaningless.

I am not sure where you are traveling or what phone you are using but I almost always get a 4GLTE signal on Verizons network.

I would be interested in what they are charging for this plan.

I think it is the same at AT&T. watching their commercials for unlimited data if you have AT&T and Directv, but in the smaller print on the screen it limits speed after 22GB. I am guessing that if we looked at all the providers claiming unlimited data it will be the same.

Verizon is likely the best RV solution for mobile data coverage. I have T-Mobile unmetered 4G LTE, technically a biz account, which costs less than Verizon XXL and does not throttle speeds. It's as close to unlimited 4G speed as available by mobile providers. It comes down to what coverage works?

I also have an Verizon unlimted 3G hotspot which is fast enough for most tasks. Even YouTube vids.

I will never voluntarily give up my unlimited Verizon plan. There are various places we camp where only Verizon has signal, so moving to a different carrier is not an option for us.
