My yahoo e mail password doesn't work any more. I didn't change it. So I clicked the change password box and asked for a temporary pass word. Yahoo said they sent me a temporary password to my e mail. Yep thats right I can't access my e mail because the password doesn't work.:S:h Am I missing something here.:h

Joebedford,

The DDOS event caused Yahoo to require a password reset. I spent more than a little time looking for problems on my computer. Nothing showed up.

DDOS has nothing to do with password hacking. It 'merely' floods the servers with spurious traffic.

I couldn't stand Yahoo! webmail but it's fine using Outlook (client).

I dropped using Yahoo Mail ages ago, and only maintained account for Groups access. They've had too many security vulnerabilities that never appear to get adequately fixed. The last disclosed on Sept 22 of 500 million Yahoo users data hacked in 2014.

Did you setup password recovery? It would have been sent to a different email address, or mobile phone.

I had so many problems with Yahoo mail, I ditched it for Gmail. It was down a lot, I would get emails 3 days after they were sent, repeated security issues like you describe. The account is still open and some things go there, but they forward to my Gmail. I'm gradually changing over the routine emails that go to Yahoo and will shut down the account after that.

Hi,

They can send a text message to a cell phone that will enable you to enter a new password.

Yahoo had a major DDOS attack on the email servers on Monday Oct 24, 2016. I could receive email but not send it and I was required to change my password.

The joke is on the people that list the email account they cannot access as the account for a rescue password.

A couple months ago (actually maybe in the spring?) Yahoo had a big hack happen to it. They sent out tons of security warnings and kept bugging people until they changed passwords. I don't know if this relates to what happened to you.

Do you have any other emails you can use? If so, try emailing them from your other email address and see if you can contact them that way. They should be able to get you back to normal.

I did eventually give Yahoo different email addresses as backups.

And yes, I LOVE that thing of "password does not work so we'll send you a new one to the account you can't access".... Which internet geek thought that up? It has to be an inside joke among network people.

I guess we all have GMAIL accounts. Has something to do with cell phones... I have never used mine or even know how to get at it haha... I see a reference to a gmail account on my cell phone screen occasionally..

hmmm--- I see G stands for GOOGLE... Got logged in using my GOGGLE ACCOUNT login info... My account had nothing in it...

Did you ask Yahoo which email address they used when they sent your password?
