Weather Radio?

Was wondering if any one uses and could recommend a good quality Weather Radio for inside a TT.

For a portable unit, I've been looking at the Midland 54VP2 http://www.buytwowayradios.com/products/midland/midland-hh54vp2.aspx

Or the Sangean CL-100 Table Top unit http://www.sangean.com/products/product.asp?mid=84

Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Get a smartphone app that can be configured to alert of the warnings you want to hear. We had a tabletop radio and it was more of a PITA than anything else. I don't care that there is a dense fog advisory, when I'm sleeping at 2am!

Weather radio is obsolete and will go the way of LORAN/LORAC, RED/GREEN lane and other old technologies. So why waste hard earned money on a dinosaur?

most weather stations only have 50 or so mile range.. very few do 100.

VHF frequencies.

Since we live and camp in areas that have tornadoes and other severe weather. Recom
I wanted it to shut it self off once an alarm was made using S.A.M.E. Specific Area Message Encoding technology. We often get multiple warnings and the radio will shut itself off when through giving a warning.
I power it from the 12V trailer power and it has battery back up.

First if you want a portable, Most of them are all fairly good.. Often the local TV station or Fire Dept gives them away or has a deal with a local retailer for a great deal on a _make_ and _model_ and that is the one I'd recommend (Savings always good).

If you are not wanting a fully portable but a table top.. Any model that allows you the option of an EXTERNAL ANTENNA.. then you can roof mount a common Scanner Anetnna from radio Shack et-al or a 2-meter Ham Radio antenna.

WHY.. Well my pocket Weather radio says NO SIGNAL

MY TS-2000 (ham rig that can tune 162MHZ fm) Says S-9 (Nice strong signal) It has a slightly better antenna.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

You can now get more detailed info about the weather from Google's standalone Android app. In an effort to help people better prepare, the search giant has revamped its interface with new climate-related tidbits that'll be useful for everyone. Starting today, the Google app will display an array of fresh data, such as severe weather alerts (pictured above), 10-day forecasts, hourly sky conditions and what the chances of rain are, among other things. This update also lets you set multiple favorite locations, in case you'd like to access information regarding these at a later time.

I have used one of these for years and would replace it with the same one if it were to die. I have a desktop model here at home, but this is the one I trust.

I got one from Cabela's a few years ago that I love. Works on solar, wind up or AA batteries. I don't know the brand off hand but it works fantastic! I use mainly to listen to ball games, though.

I got the Midland last year when my old Oregon Scientific finally gave up the ghost. I opted for the non-rechargeable one - just takes AA batteries, but I keep it plugged in to 12V when travelling. It has a GREAT feature - travel mode - continually scans for strongest signal and keeps changing Wx channels to follow you. I vouch that it WORKS. Dodged severe storms and tornadoes coming back across Nebraska last September - it did its job well. Got it thru Amazon. ST

I have the Sangean and like it. Works well even in remote areas we sometimes travel or camp in.

I have an earlier model of this one:

It stays in our house when we're not out with the travel trailer.
