I fear I might open a can of worms here ๐Ÿ˜‰ but do you guys have any recommendations for a good RV Queen Size mattress. I know we are all different, bit for instance I have had a lot of luck over the years with Sealy mattresses when not in my travel trailer. Now we are living full time in it, this feels like something worth getting right...

About a month ago we purchased a new queen mattress for the camper. Got the same identical one purchased for our bedroom in the house, except the one in the house is a king size. We're hanging on to the factory installed mattress in the event we ever sell the camper, the original goes back in the camper and we're keeping the queen (for the next camper)(even though we do not have a queen bed anywhere in the house.

So, just purchase a mattress that you would purchase for your house and SLEEP COMFORTABLE! Don't cheat yourself! 1/3rd or more of your life is spent in bed. Why not make it the best money can buy. That's a lot of time in you're life you're spending flat on your back! Why not make it comfortable?

After 30 years of sleeping on a waterbed, when we retired 6 years ago, we needed to find something else. After a year or so of trying different things, we purchased a sleep number bed. Wasn't cheap, but this is our home now.

We love it.

X2.

Did that just yesterday in fact.

Advantages of The Original Mattress Factory:

- Recently very highly rated in Consumer Reports

- Their prices are decent

- You pick out the mattress type that you want in store (i.e., you lay on them, pick out the right firmness, etc), they do a custom size if you need one for a $50 upcharge (I also needed a short queen), they build it in store, you get it delivered or pick it up in store 3 days later.

Most of the mattresses in our house are from them.

If I needed another mattress for home or RV today, I honestly wouldn't go anywhere but to them.
All previous rigs below are sold - waiting until the kids graduate to the buy the next one!

Agree with the posters touting foam mattresses. I ordered an 8" foam RV queen from overstock for $300 and no shipping. Came in a few days. Compared to mattresses that cost up to 10x as much it had better reviews. 4.7/5 for 135 reviews. So figure I couldn't go wrong. Hands down the best mattress I ever slept on. We ordered a standard one for the house. I got 2 for less than a competitor's price on one.

We spent 70+ nights in ours this summer and the old mattress was killing me. I was surfing the web and happened to see that Walmart had their 8" memory foam mattresses on sale. The queen was $219 with free shipping. I figured it HAD to be better than what we had. Ordered it about midnight on Monday and it arrived on Thursday. Unrolled it, laid it on the bed decking and slept like a baby Thursday night. We spent another 20 nights before coming back home where we have a Tempurpedic and they are pretty close in feel. I don't expect it to last for 20 years like my Tempurpedic is supposed to, but it was also 1/10th of the cost of my Tempurpedic, so if it lasts 4-5 years, I made a good deal.

I bought mine at "The Original Mattress Factory". The sales guy knew exactly what I needed, and they made me a short queen with a wooden bottom frame that was hinged, so I could raise the lid on the storage compartment underneath. Great Mattress and cheaper than a regular queen from the big box stores.

We got the upgraded Sealy mattress as an option and still weren't happy. We then picked up a 4" foam topper from Kohls (on sale, with a coupon and some Kohls cash). It's very comfortable for us.

The first thing we have always done is get rid of the rv mattress and swap it for the same as in the stick house. We just recently stepped up to a Sleep Number....WOW! We didn't get the RV edition, we bought the C2 that is on sale for $599 and it works great. The difference between the RV and home edition is where the air ports are. The RV ports go down through the base and the home go out the head. Some creative air hose routing and it works great! We're actually thinking of getting another for the house! (been camping in the driveway for a week...LOL)

We just purchased the Sleep Number bed for our fifth wheel. We have had one at home for a number of years and love it. Either side is adjustable so my wife and I can have whatever firmness suits us individually, and I do change mine occasionally depending on my needs, as I have chronic pain from some back issues. I know some will point out that they can be expensive but what is comfort worth? You also have to lower the pressure when traveling, especially when driving through areas that change elevation.

Why not just get a regular home mattress for your RV. Go to an 80 in length and you can byanythingyou would at home. Many of the majors make them in the short RV size as well but you have to ask as they usually don't advertise it. I know as i have been in the business for years and they have always been available. Another option is a custom shop or go to foan and just cut it to size with an electric knife. Remember a mattress is a personal preferance so whatever anyone tells you it is onlya advice. Just like all the best truck threads on the board. No real winner.
