Cable TV

Not that we want Cable tv all the time, but with grandkids sometimes it is a blessing. We have not tried the hookup yet to see if it works, of course not all campgrounds have this option. In our driveway, I can get one channel via air. My question is there a list on the internet of campgrounds that have cable hookup, mostly looking in Canada. I have been searching, but no luck yet.

Thanks.

The big problem with cable TV nowadays is that all the cable companies went digital and they're all different. They each have their own proprietsry converter to change their digital signal so it can be viewed on an analog TV set.

We live in an area where Comcast is the local governmant-approved sole supplier and we have converters for each of our three TV sets in the S&B. We've run into several CG's in the last two seasons who have just had their service converted to digital and now face the problem of giving every visitor a loaner converter. Good old Comcast never told them what would be involved.

We've basically given up on trying to watch TV in the rig anymore. Apart from the national news and local weather, nothing much interests us. We watch a couple of PBS stations and the local News programs in the S&B, but nothng we can't do without when we're travelling.

Bottom line - when you're on the road, do without the goggle box!

obviously our Tvs in a 1999 MH our analog..lol. I was already thinking about the boxes and such. Oh well there is always the radio, and movies. Thanks.

We live in the same area, only one channel at home, and now that we at the campground north of Barrie, we are overwhelmed with 3.

Periodically in Walmart, we will pick through the 7.99 bin of previously enjoyed DVDs, grandson 15 and 16 will watch them.

Campgrounds are getting away from installing and maintaining cable systems due to the expense and fact that most full timers have satellite systems.

Wow three channels...lol. My DH was hoping for a local news/weather channel where ever we may be. I may be able to mess with the tv enough to get that for him. Grandsons are 7 and 5

Not useless lol. I have a big binder of movies that will be with us. Been buying up some oldies, that no one knows I have put in there, so there will be a few surprises for those looking for a movie.

Only ones you need to look at are ones at which you're interested in camping.

Miss read his post. Thought he was looking for program listings, not campground listings.

I seem to recall some charts that show

Campground Price Feature Feature Feature (and so on)

But the URL's I cheked were of no assistance.. Basically it is visit every campground's home page and check, Most of them, if they have cable, will say so.

IF it is a chain of campgrounds,, You may find such a chart.. That lets you check multiple CG's at one time. But alas,, I know of no page that lists them.. May keep looking if time allows.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

You may want to consider satellite.

I am to cheap for Satellite...lol. Right now it is weekend camping, and a few weeks in the summer. When things change and DH and I are in it for months on end while retired I may feel differently about that.

Go to www.zap2it.com.. Register, Enter the ZIP CODE and it will give you a list of Television Providers, the last one is Broadcast antenna.

Click on the one that provides cable TV to the park and it will give you the program guide, 4 hours. GO to preferences and you can make it six hours

Once you have the guide on the screen.. Bookmark that page. From now on it will show you the guide when you log in.

Change parks, There is a "Push pin" icon at the top of the listings (next to the zip code) this is the inverted (point down) Tear drop with hole in it icon.

Click here, enter new zip code, and choose new cable provider, or enter same zip code for a different cable provider.

Here is the direct to grid link , however this will only give you "National listings" first time you log in www.zap2it.com/tvlistings

Used to use it all the time, Use a different method now but I pay for that.

Now, once you get to the park, Use antenna web or the free smart phone app "Antenna Helper Free" to find broadcast towers .

I open the app, it snaggs my GPS cordornates, then downloads local TV towers from the FCC, then offers me a list (useful for some things) or a map.. also a "Compass View" (Useless far as I'm concerned but some may like it)

I go to map and it shows me in the center with lines radiating out to towers. I pick the most dense angle and aim..

Using LIST I can convert TV-Screen channel to Broadcst Channel (They are not always the same any more) and then I can use my Sensar Pro to peak that channel,

Right now I have both OTA and cable ability.. Kind of fun, had a lovely time setting up the guide service I use (Got it whipped though) so the DVR's in my network can pick and choose their inputs, Either the digital converters for OTA (A/V 1 Input) or the Cable (RF) and record... Sadly, I need MORE HARD DRIVE 🙂

I think wa8yxm must be out of control. I have no clue how his post helps the OP find a campground.
