It depends on how you use your RV. It may also depend on the way you look at all your insurance needs, because that is what an extended warranty is.

Do you spend weekends in your RV during the summer drinking beer with your buddies, maybe putting 50 miles on a year? Then an extended warranty probably isn't for you.

Are you full time and traveling all over the country putting between 10,000 and 20,000 miles on every year? Then you just may get your money out of an extended warranty.

If you are somewhere in between on how you use your RV then it can be a tough decision that you will have to make for yourself.

The only extended warranty that I ever took was on a 5th wheel purchase many years ago. It extended an additional year for only $100 which was a bargain; never had to use it though.

For me to buy an extended warranty on something, it would need to be almost a giveaway.

I was in the "NO" crowd but uses the EW on my last 5er for a holding tank leak / replacement. I just bought a new 5er and still was debating it and said yes again. I like the fact that for the first 5 years the things that I can't or don't want to fix are covered like the holding tanks, all the electrical including my 6 point leveling..... Most EW plans are not that expensive so if u feel its a good idea get it and don't look back:

I bought the DW a new Edge this weekend. The extended warranty offered was $1990. Then, if you wrap that in with the financing you would pay interest on the $1900 for the life of the note.

I politely declined.

I could take that $1990 and buy DIS, AAPL or (pick one) and be way ahead in 5 yrs when the regular warranty expires.

I am on the other side. I feel they are a good thing. I have used warranty on my truck twice amounting to a savings of over $2000.00. On the other side I have not used it on the camper. All the people will say start a repair savings account. Thats all fine and good if savings is in your dna, its not in mine.

Extended warranties are great for the seller, but a waste of money for the buyer. Take the money, put it in a savings account, and be your own warranty provider. You will be money ahead and not have to listen to "No. that is not a covered repair because of reason X" Or you can tell yourself that and pay for it out of another account LOL.

I think it's best to start a 'repair' fund of your own.
