We are planning our first real trip from NE to WA in May to June. On the way there we will probably boondock. I'm thinking we can stop at some pilots along the way but my biggest concerns are fresh water refills and I found a couple links for waste dump sites but (not litterly) go into a panic because not sure where to get fresh water. Help :S

USFS water bibs are often smooth so instead of spending $4 for the above, I carry the male end of a old hose to slip on. Dennis, never thought about a HD for water but by the time we need water it's time to dump too.
OP, it could be cold even in late May out West. No need for reservations that early.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

Water will be pretty easy to find if you look. Also might want to got one of these.

Also agree with stopping at a CG every few nights... It will be a welcome and sometimes necessary expense.

Keep an open mind & you'll find many opportunities.
e.g One time when traversing a residential street, I offered a guy watering his lawn 5 bucks & a beer for a fill up. We had a great conversation waiting the fill.
Another, while boondocked behind a building under construction, I noticed a hose bib. Hooked up and filled during the night.
As they say, opportunity is the mother of invention....:B

AND, if you get caught doing something you're not supposed to - remember, tis better to ask forgiveness rather than permission.

Any Home Depot will let you fill up at their stores if you simply stop and ask a manager....they all have hose bibs outside..just try to do it early morning or late night so you don't interrupt their business......Dennis

Just a note from a fellow planner, you can and will kill yourself trying to plan every little thing on your trip. (believe me, I know) if you are concerned about running out of drinking water, buy a case at walmart for drinking, and in. a pinch take a sponge bath using the bottled.water. Someone here once told me "relax, you are camping, its supposed to be fun" thats what I strive for on all my trips

That's what one night stops at a cg are for......dump tanks and top off fresh water tank. Could be every 3-4 days or once a week...depends on your water usage.

Great time to catch up on laundry also.
