Outdoor Mats

We are new to RVing having purchased a little Starcraft 18RB HTT last fall (only got to use it once). We are starting to compile a list of things we need to get for it since we are traveling a lot this summer with it. I know that some campsites don't allow outdoor mats because of the grass, but I'm wondering what kind of outdoor carpet/mat you have gotten for your trailer?

We have looked at the "breathable" mats and friends of ours had interlocking rubber mats that allowed grass to grow and could be hosed off. I'm just wondering what you have and what we should be looking at.

Have had both the indoor outdoor carpet and the woven one and the woven one wins hands down. Takes up a third the space when store, weighs a quarter the weight, and doesn't take forever to dry when it gets wet. Don't use it on concrete but on a typical state park site it is great.

Last 3 years had indoor/outdoor carpet from Lowes and when we got the newer RV went to Walmart and got the weave one and love it. Easy to store, easy to put out, and easy to clean. All under $50.

We bought an 8 x 20 mat from Patio Mats in 2010 and it has stood up great. Just spray down with garden hose and sweep with a broom. In Canada, the same size was over $200.

The reversible, woven polyethylene ones work great for us. Water goes through, they dry very fast, and fold up nice and flat. Most the places we go have crushed gravel or sand sites, and the mat helps keeping the white dust and dirt on the ground instead of tracked into the trailer. Also helps keeping newly mowed grass from getting tracked all over. If the site has a nice slab or patio, there really is no need for the mat. We also have two small mats for each door - one at the bottom of the steps, and one right inside the door - to wipe your feet on. Unfortunately, the dogs don't always wipe their feet as well as we would like them to .....

Weave mats are fabulous! Can't imagine what a mess it would be without it!

In 9 seasons we have never had an outdoor mat and have gotten along just fine without one. Too big and bulky to store, messy to clean up to put away when leaving a campsite.

Walmart mat here too. In the rv accessories section of the store. They are functional, light, and come with a carry strap.

Mine is from Walmart. Get one that will allow sand and small particles of dirt to fall thru. I also use tent stakes on all four corners (want to know why I do that? lol)

Bought one. Used it so infrequently we threw it away. Note we tend to move a lot, not just sit in one spot. We travel, not park.

We use the reversible type (9X13) - bought ours at Costco. I've started carrying tent pegs with us and fold up what we don't need under the camper. This way we only use the mat on the gravel or ground and the grass is not touched to stop it from growing.

That's what I use and it seems to be holding up ok. However if I ever need a new one I'll have to look else where as I no longer shop Walmart because of their employment policies.
