bought a 86 pace arrow and it came with a newer refrigerator a Dometic Rm2820 that was installed in Dec.2006 by Camping World for $1400bucks!! wow i did not know they were so expensive.
I can't seem to get it work, I've plugged the rv to shore power and have left for over a day and did not cool at all, I've also tried it with propane for over a day and still not working. Lights inside the fridge work, i have new house batteries and also checked the back for a flame and that is working.. I don't know what else to check for .
Any suggestions?

So i left the fridge on LP and let it run overnight and it now appears to be working.. I wonder if I used up all my LP and if the house battery suffers much drain

Word for word out of my manual.

Anytime the vehicle is parked for several hours with the refrigerator operating, the vehicle should be leveled to prevent the loss of cooling.

The vehicle needs to be leveled only so it is comfortable to live in( no notice of sloping of floor or walls).
Now what is comfortable to live is one persons own judgement.

Many people will purchase small homestyle refrig. If they are not opened they will keep their cold for a good day. My daughter & SIL did this on their Bluebird and have been very happy with it. If you are doing boondocking it is not such a good idea.

Thanks for the input but at those prices, couldn't I just buy a regular
" studio " size fridge and just operate it at 120v.

3 degrees? Care to cite that info?

I had mine replaced a year ago and watched the tech do it. I was a mechanic in the USAF and I wouldn't attempt it. It took the tech four hours and he's done many of them. Numerous parts have to come off the old and be put on the new unit.

Special tape and caulk used. Not to be rude but if you didn't know they cool with ammonia and not freon I'm thinking it's above your experience level. Do it wrong and a fire would be disasterous.

so this basically a part that I can remove and install on my fridge myself?

Ah absorptionn refrig does not use freon. It uses ammonia vapor to do the cooling. It is a totally closed system and not meant to be tampered with by anyone not knowing it's operation. They can have deadly fumes under the wrong conditions.

looks like something I could do myself if it's just a case of replacing it.. Do they need any kind of freon recharge?

Absorption 'fridges are expensive, no doubt about it. And they do have to be level to operate. More than 3 degrees off level can kill one. "Pretty level" won't cut it, I'm sorry to say. Across an 8 foot rig, that's 5 inches high/low on one side, and I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but a lot of streets have crowns that big for drainage.
