Stupid question about soft spot in floor

Tent camper converting to TTing and doing a lot of research and reading but still a lot to learn. Question number 1: Still looking for my first TT. Narrowed it down to a couple, and my first choice is a 2006 Outback 29BHS. Inspection revealed a soft spot in the floor (about 8" v 12") near the front right corner. No visable signs of leakage anywhere. Dealer is reputed to be the most respected in the area (mid-south) and says it would be fixed by re-inforcing the area. Is this an acceptable "fix" or should I just forget about this one? Thanks - I have gleaned a TON on info from these forums

I would keep looking. If it has rot there it could have it elsewhere.

A soft spot usually means it leaked somewhere and got wet. The leak needs located and repaired before you fix the floor. These kind of repairs get pricey. Stay away unless the price is well discounted(which it isn't).

Thanks guys! I guess I really knew the answer before I asked, just hoping I was wrong. The price seemed good, $10,500 and they would install the WD hitch, digital brake assist, and sway bar.

Low retail is $9,500
Soft spot could be from water intrusion OR just weak sub-floor material
Either way 'bracing' is just a bandaid fix.

I agree with the others; walk. Other dealers will also install your equipment. Good luck!

Stay away, there are better choices out there without a ton of work to make right.

BTW, thanks for reinforcing my perception of salesmen. I guess we'll hear about an honest one, some day.

Personally, I would walk away from that TT. The dealer is going to put a band aid on the problem, not repair the damage. Plus you don't know what caused the soft spot. JMO
