Hello,

We purchased out first travel trailer and will begin to use it this summer. I am just gathering a list of everything that is needed. we will not be doing any boondocking, just full hookups at sites. Thanks for any help.

Don't ever bring the wife to buy the necessities.

You'll end having two plastic pink flamingo insisting it's a necessity.

Pink flamingos are a must especially if it sings โ€œ Itโ€™s 5 oโ€™ clock somewhere.

And the first trip keep it short and close to home. Based on that figure out what you used and what you missed.

Don't load up on everything and anything or you will wind up cleaning out the trailer in a few years and find a bunch of stuff you bought and never used.

If you have a black tank rinse, you will also need a hose for that, i usally have a wye on the tap to connect 2 hoses, one for drinking, one for rinsing. The rinsing one is especially good if you have a blow up yak.

Poop dissolver (my grandson's favorite -- and his preferred task is dropping two each morning on the bowl with a giggle shouting to us what he is doing).

parking chocks
Levelers
A good sewer hose and a good support like a slunky
Disposable gloves and hand cleaner
A clear hose connector to visually see when your tank is empty or running clear
Holding tank treatment

Just some basics, but there is so much more. Create a good checklist using Excel for yourself and use it for every single trip. Make a menu plan on one side and ingredients list on the other, add things to do at the house before leaving such as stop mail, set light timers, turn off water to all toilets, washing machine, and ice maker, etc.

Thanks a lot!

Yeah I was trying to see what I can get away with for at least our first trip and go from there.

Here's what I came up with also. Pretty much everything you just said, I just dont want to miss anything.

Wheel Chocks
Leveling blocks
Sewer hose with support and clear connector
white rv fresh water hose
water pressure regulator valve
water filter
rv extension cord
holding tank treatment
surge protector?

If you can think of anything else, let me know.

Yes, on the surge protector since you will be primarily camping at RV parks. That's a must. We finally just had one permanently installed in our unit.

As for the water filter. We used to do it, but it became such a hassle and we found we really didn't need it.

If you'll be camping in cooler/colder months, an additional heating source. Using strictly your online furnace will eat up propane like crazy.

In warmer months, but not hot enough for the AC, a fan of some sort to move the air.

1. buy an electrical adapter to use 30amp to 50amp and 50amp to 30amp. An 25 ft. extension electrical cord for when your regular RV cords will not reach a particular site.
2. buy an Emergency Roadside Service plan i.e. Good Sam plan. There are other plans to choose from. Pick the one that meets your needs.
3. Electrical drill to raise and lower your jacks unless you have automatic electrical .

Every time you camp this summer start a list of stuff you want to bring next time. Larger CGs will have a "camp store" that has the basics, and if there is a Wal-Mart nearby, they have some RV supplies and also stuff like tools, housewares, etc.

We started with a pop-up and then owned 3 TTs after that over 20 years or so. We finally sold the Terry last spring and the buyer wanted fast delivery so we emptied everything into storage tubs.

Folks don't believe that you add 1200-1500 lbs of "stuff" to your RV...here is what came out of the Terry...and not pictured here are the generator, extended run tank, Coleman Roadtrip BBQ, gray water tank, spare tire, etc etc etc

I will steel someonelses recomendations, but bring a pad and a pen. Jot down what you need or forgot while you camp. Go from there, many buy tons of things they think they need only to find out they dont use them at all.
