Another rv rollover

Sorry, no pictures. Even if I were able to snap a few I wouldn't post someones misfortune for the world to see. Anyway we are currently camping at Ludington State park in Michigan. While on a day trip today on US 31 near Pentwater we came across a rollover that was a 30ish foot travel trailer and a full size SUV, both on their sides. While nobody likes to see an accident, as a fellow RVer this made my heart sink. By the looks of it I'm hoping the occupants were ok, but the trailer not so much as it was flattened. I'm speculating of course but I'm guessing a blown tire on the tow vehicle or trailer sway caught up with the driver, who knows at this point. Again I'm hoping everybody is ok.

Lots of RVs on the road today, stay safe everybody.

Here's the thing that stands out in these cases: There's always more RVers/people who offer prayers and wellness to unknown victims, than there are people who simply want to know what caused the accident. In my profession, we always discussed(even speculated) on the causal factors, without mentioning the victims. But, it wasn't because we were cold-hearted blankety-blanks, it was because we knew that what's done is done, and we were focused on learning more about prevention.

Amazing the number of Accident Reconstruction Speciaists we have on here. Really ought to offer your services to the law enforcement community as apparently the skill set is such that a 15 second drive by "looky-loo" negates any need for further investigation such as GPS triangulation, detailed measurements, scene mapping, interviews of drivers and witnesses are now moot.

Well stated. Too much speculation by people trying to justify their own decisions and disparage anyone who hasn't made the same exact decisions.

Hope the occupants of this wreck and all wrecks are ok. We all take it for granted that we arrive to our campground safely and then get to complain about our neighbors lights or dogs or dumping habits. I pray that all of us can continue to worry about these trivial things, and not have to contend with real problems.

Everyone stay safe!

Ahhhhh - no dog in the fight with a full or docked tail.......

but - - maybe Mod/s or Admin/s - could it be time to close this thread -or-
should useless drivel continue?

My comments are to those considering a TT as one needs a lot of dog to properly control it's tail.

Even if the dog is overly large, if the person holding the leash has no common sense ehatsoever the tail can still wag right off the dog.

They sure do, and the same holds true with a fifth wheel. You get that tail wagging your setup, I can only imagine what would go on.

IMO I have plenty of dog to handle the 13-14K fifth wheel I tow with my Ram 3500, but I sure would hate to make a hard maneuver. IMO anyone towing a trailer or fifth wheel, its something you just can't do . That could be what happened in this case, a hard maneuver, that you can't do towing.

Relatives in the UK had a 19' coach-built, pronounced "heavy", TT that they towed with an Austin Cambridge sedan (1.5 liter engine, 4 speed stick-shift). They ran the combination for over 10 years, all over Europe, without any accidents or incidents. They eventually "upgraded" their tow vehicle to a 2-liter Ford sedan.

That tail was a lot bigger than either dog.

Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

We seen 2 very bad wrecks in August on Hwy 37 in BC on our way back from Alaska, both of them was too much Speed on bad corner's, one a class A and a new Ford truck towing a new Montana that was nothing but a pile of junk and was still in the ditch last week.

We're going to have to wait until someone finds out some facts which can be helpful to our cause, which is to find out more about possible preventative measures.
