Best Wheel Chocks

So today while trying to get our new fifth wheel ready and loading up our gear into the new trailer, I noticed that the gap between the wheels was considerably wider than our old trailer. I took out our rotochocks and verified that indeed they were not wide enough to fit between the wheels. (i guess that's another item that I'm going to give to the new owners of our old trailer). While looking in to purchase a new set of rotochocks, I discovered that I couldn't find them online anywhere. In fact, they don't even appear when entering the name in the search engine. The closest thing i have found, is the BAL wheel stabilizer. Just wondering what the best chock is out there on the market or what most people are using? Sad to see rotochock go away, I really liked them and were easy to use.

Reality is you are compressing the tires a bit. No harm!

Nope, those can, and will, pop out. Definitely don't use those to chock your wheels. I certainly wouldn't trust them.

If tires are far apart I agree. If close as in pic above they won't budge.

Yep, the wide spaced ones look sketchy but we have the ones pictured and they don't move.

Buy Buy buy. How much wider do the wedges need to be to work. Bolt wood or rubber to the wedges you have.
I put a 4X4 behind the tire, and a 2X4 in front. Measured the distance between, added half inch. Bolted 4X to old rubber mud flap, and the 2X under flap spaced at my dimension. Backing in tire gets on flap, so can't slide, then runs over the 2X4, and stops against 4X4. I leave in the yard, so as soon as I back in she's chocked. Plus no reason to get the weed eater close to tires

Because many folks are gullible and think that because it's "made for a RV" then it is a necessary item.
I can count on zero fingers how many robo chocks or whatever they are living in the real world outside of rv parks and campgrounds!
Robo chocks....brought to you by the makers of weight distributing hitches for 1 ton pickups, Flex Seal and the Ab Cruncher as seen on TV!

All you’re trying to do is to keep the unit from moving. A rock, brick, piece of wood, broken branch, plastic chock, rubber chock will do that job. You can pay big bucks for the best but it won’t work any better than the list above.

You couldnt be more wrong. If you were to ever use the Rotochoks you would understand. They dont just keep the trailer from rolling down the hill. They are part of the stabilization system to control shaking and bouncing. There is a very noticable difference between sitting in my driveway with wooden blocks vs on a campsite with rotochoks. When you have a 140lb dog that wants to play ball in the trailer they are worth every penny spent. Its just a shame that they are no longer in business

Those mechanical wheel chocks are a lawsuit waiting to happen. Use a rock or wood chocks.

Use whatever works.

A chunk of 4 x 6 does a fine job, and the price is right...:C

If you like wood work - put a bevel on one edge. (see "IMO" below)

BTW - When both Perl & her husband (the Roto mfgrs & suppliers) passed away, apparently no family members were interested in continuing the business.

IMO - (the woodworking) - shouldn't be a big deal to modify the Roto's you have. Well worth the effort - *nothing* compares to Rotos!

RotoChoks do work better; they stay off the ground and don't get muddy. I packed up this morning after 4 days of intermittent hard rain. Chocks were dry when I removed them, the ground was wet. As mentioned, they also stabilize the trailer. Mine have been worth every dollar I paid for them. At some point, resale will be nice.

I imagine I could spit out or drive over most of the things mentioned. My RotoChoks will skid all four tires on asphalt.

I was trying to kill two birds with one stone which was keeping the trailer stabilized and also keeping it from moving. I liked the fact that the rotochocks kept it from moving front to back when walking around inside the trailer. But your right, you cant sue a rock lol
