This is not funy, but I personaly suffer the loss of my bicyle last night, locked to my motor home with a heavy cable that it was cutted witha bolt cutter at Sam Town RV Park in Vegas, the bad part is that only Security came down and just handed me a form to fill with name and description of the stolen item and that is all, no one else including the ront office or manager showed any consern at all....seems to me that this is a very comon thign to happen here so just becarful......
The worst part is that I have a space very open, lighted, neighbors,25 yards from the office, secuerity patrol comes aroud every so offten, so all this means to me that there is no real Security and it is a not safe park to leve your stuff out side of your RV.. all of this is for all of you to be carfull....thigns like this happen every where...

Bikes are cheap.

Ours aren't cheap! You get what you pay for.

Yes, not everyone purchases their bikes from Walmart for the purpose of riding to the bathhouse and back.

From the OP, I read that he kinda wonders 'how can this happen in Las Vegas?' The actual question should be 'how can it not happen in Las Vegas?' LVPD is the most overwhelmed big city PD in the US. 40 years ago I could walk out of the Sands with $30,000 (1972 dollars) in my pockets, and with several buckets of dollar coins in my hands, and walk out to my unlocked car in the parking lot with out a worry. Now every time I goto Vegas, I spend too many hours with PD after I have to do a citizen arrest.

What a coincidence....we stayed a few nights ago next to a couple who just had their TWO bikes stolen chained to their motorhome from Sams Town RV in Vegas! Sounds like a place to stay away from, especially with bikes.

Sorry for your loss. That's why I only bring my 12 year old rusty, junky mountain bike when camping. Will I be upset if someone takes it, yes. I'd be more upset if someone peddled away with my $800 bike though.

One campground I visit one of the most common pass times of the management is viewing videos along with selected members and their kids.

you see, the bicycle racks outside the family center have signs near by warning you are under video survalance, and easily seen camera installations.

Still, they insist on stealing bicycles out of those racks in living color.

So maybe you should move north - waaayyy north - where they don't have internet.

If I take the pedals and seat off of my bike and lock the front brake down to the point that the wheel won't turn do you think the bike will be stolen? This is what I do in addition to the normal locking devices.

Hey Seรฑor Tony Lee,

Could you spring for one of these for me. I'll mail you $5.00! I work with 316 stainless cable (the stuff with the molybdenum in it) and these cables can be cut with the cable cutter below. Every bicycle thief carries a pair

If you can get a German one for $70, you will be able to get a Chinese one for $5 that will work quite well enough to cut a few SS cables. Try Harbour Freight.

RVMEX,

In EUA go to a MARINE HARDWARE STORE like WEST MARINE. Purchase 5/32" or 3/16" stainless steel cable. Also at regular ferreteria a special padlock that hides the clasp, the bolt. No bolt cutter that I have ever seen can cut a stainless steel cable not even a 48" $300.00 Rigid cutter. A los dos paises tiene cabrones uรฑados. Lo siento mucho.

An angle grinder will cut it in a New York minute!

rvmex, next time in Vegas stay at the Oasis RV Resort on the South end of the Strip, http://www.oasislasvegasrvresort.com/ . We just left yesterday and it is completely secure and VERY NICE. If you are a Passport America member the rate is same as or lower than Sam Town. Yep we lock our bikes always but we take what we call our RV bikes (bought at local yard sales for less than $20) and leave the good bikes at home. If stolen the pain is not as great! Sorry about your loss but can happen anywhere.
