In both cases isn't that what the DW is for? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have to go to the dealer and they update the GPS in the shop. $200 every two years. No biggie and worth the convenience of having it built in so I'm not fiddling with the smart phone while driving.

My F350 I just go to Ford website and download an update to a USB and plug it into the truck and the GPS will update.

I'd love to have a built-in GPS but could never justify paying that much for an inferior product. I think the option was like $3000 and then I have to pay a couple hundred every couple years for an update.

Ridiculous when I can buy a Garmin off the shelf for $150 with superior GPS software and lifetime updates.

My built in Garmin with live maps was under $700; my dealer threw it in as part of my deal.

I used to think the same, till I got our latest vehicle with built in GPS.
Garmin is less expensive, yes it has free lifetime map updates, but I seldom use it now, because the built in nav is far far superior and much much easier to use than our garmin. Yes it is more expensive to update maps. Now in my case the nav was std, not an option.

I use my cellphone. It's always upto date. Dealer updates seem ridiculous for the cost.

My Ford uses a DVD, purchased from Ford. I do it every couple of years.

I also have a Garmin GPS, but prefer the Ford built in model in spite of the higher cost of map updates.

Mine is live from Garmin. It was an expensive option but is always up to date.

Ours have a removable microchip. Others have a USB port.
