We rarely stay in hotels and we never bring anything someone would want to carry off. If we bring a computer or the like I lock them in the trunk of our car.

I travel a lot for work. I never leave my laptop or phone in the room and haven't ever had an issue with other stuff (portable speaker, mp3 player, Kindle, etc...).

That said, the bland sameness of hotel rooms gets to me. On vacation, I NEVER stay in hotels. ๐Ÿ™‚

Boy, except for boondocking miles away from everywhere, I think your going to have crime. I've had stuff stolen from our campgrounds so what is the difference?

So very true.......having worked in restaurant and slaughter/packing plant neither are for the faint of heart :B

Motel, hotel, bus, airplane....any place that can have access then chances are it can be gone thru.

Beds......never was too worried about bed bugs BUT what was on bed covers. Those rarely get laundered. Turn on a black light and say...YUK!

And don't walk around barefooted!

As a regional sales manage I spent almost 40 years working out of hotels and motel. I never had a problem with theft, bed bugs, etc.
We travel in an RV only because it is what we like to do. It is also a problem finding hotels that allow dogs without a big up charge. Our dogs are part of our family as they allow us to travel with them.

I always wondered if they went through your belongings.

I seriously doubt this happens at every hotel. If this bothers you, don't cross the border into Canada. Border agents regularly search motorhomes. And they ask you to leave the vehicle so you can't see what they are looking at.

Very true and we also have our own bed. I hate a strange bed anyway. I always wondered if they went through your belongings.
