Chrysler Crossfire

New owner wii none ago view. Any help or suggestions about towing a Chrysler crossfire with 6 speed standard appreciated. Have a Winnebago view 3500. Thanks

The more I thought about that statement, the more I wanted to respond.
It certainly is nice that $500 is mere pocket change to you, but to me that is a LOT of money, and I can't afford to take the chance.
While I have removed, repaired, and replaced many transmissions, manual and automatic, from a T-96 three speed to an automatic the size of a VW bug, that was when I was much younger. I don't choose to do it now, if I can avoid it. Besides, if the tranny goes out, it will probably be 500 miles or more from my tools and tranny jack, and I CERTAINLY can't afford to have it replaced or rebuilt. I been there, done that, do NOT want to have to do it again!

It seems to me that a battery shut-off switch (which a LOT of people have to do) will take care of all of that except the driveshaft and I already said that I am willing to accept that risk.

According to the Owners Manual, any Crossfire CAN be towed IF the driveshaft is disconnected at the differential yoke, and IF the auto door locks are disabled, and IF some fancy electronic brake actuating gadget is disabled so the rear wheels won't lock up, and IF the motion sensor is disabled so the alarm won't go off...

Oh, yeah, you will have to go through the whole thing every time you use the car, because when the key is inserted and turned ON, the whole mess resets to
ACTIVE!

As for me, I will stay with my Jeep. Transfer case in NEUTRAL, transmission in 6th gear, ignition switch in OFF, not locked, and go. No limitations.
If it needs modified to be towed, I won't have one.
If the manufacturer says "Don't tow it!", that's good enough for me.

While I appreciate all of the inputs, Mazda says that I cannot tow a Miata either, but I towed a 2000 5-speed for over 35,000 miles and have now towed a 2010 6-speed for over 15,000 miles.

Blue Ox makes a baseplate for a 2005 Crossfire and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't invest in designing and producing them if they were going to damage a customer's car and/or couldn't sell any of them.

Additionally when they sell a baseplate they assume some measure of liability for what people do with their product.

Mower, because the manual specifically talks about NOT towing the automatic trans., but does not specifically mention the manual trans. leads me to think that it probably is towable.

I can get a Crossfire 5 or 6 speed manual transmission for about $500 and if necessary, I have a lift and tools and can change it myself.

Based on the above, I would take a chance on towing one.

I looked at the 2004 Crossfire Owners Manual and on page 170 it says that the automatic transmission model can be towed with all wheels on the ground for 30 miles at speeds not to exceed 30 MPH.
It does not mention manual transmission models.
There are also a couple of electronic gadgets that must be disabled before towing!
So, even if you disconnect the drive shaft at the differential, it still isn;'t towable unless the automatic door locks are disabled, and a couple of other things.
It looks like putting it on a trailer is the best bet!
I was once interested in buying one. Now I'm glad I didn't. thanks for asking about towing!
