Counter top extension

We looked at an '05 5th wheel which we liked but I would like more counter top space. There is a place an extension could be added but I'm wondering how hard it would be to find one that matches counter top. Would the best place to start be with the mfgr? Would they possibly still have one?? If not, what suggestions do y'all have? TIA!

Nice job matching the radius on the existing counter top.

Thank you. There was a reason for that, it helps me line up the shelf with the screws on the cabinet.:)

We found one that matches our medium brown countertop quite well...a tv tray at Walmart. Took it apart and attached it to the cabinet with the appropriate hardware.

I made an extension for our counter top, but we had a problem. The only place for an extension had the water heater and generator controls immediately under so a hinged extension was out of the question.

To solve this I made slotted holes in shelf supports and put screws in the edge of the cabinet.

Here is the finished extension in place.

If you have a problem with access where the extension would go, this is one way around it.

If one of the above doesn't have a match, it'll probably be difficult to find (assuming you're SOL with the camper's manufacturer).
These laminates are easily applied to a substrate with contact cement and trimmed with a router. If you have access to a router, I bet you can make one.

Any good cabinet shop that makes counter tops should be able to match the existing laminate closely. Nine years means that patterns and colors that existed then may be discontinued but there are a lot of choices and your existing pattern may still be in production.

I took the flip TV shelf from the bedroom and mounted it to the end of the counter.
It's not big but realy helps.

Our MH, 2014 Sunseeker 3010DS, has a flip-up extension at the end of the counter, but it is right in front of the door. When it is up, no one can go in or out. Nice selling feature, but we have never used it.

I think I've even seen those for sale in Camping World. It probably won't match your countertop but might coordinate with it - perhaps a wood-look that would look like a butcher block insert. Google for other sources, too, and definitely call the manufacturer.

Manufacture might have something that matches, or you could keep looking for something with more counter space to start with. :B

I thought some of these ideas were neat...

FLIP-UP Table Extension

Having one in front of the entrance door might not be a good idea however...
