According to motorhome Mag. you can now tow the Jeep Patriot 4WD. I am thinking of buying one and would like to know if anyone is towing one and how they like it. TOM

I am pulling a 2012 Jeep Patriot--Manual Transmisson, the CVT transmisson can not be towed.

I have yet to determine if the new automatic transmisson in the 2014 models can be towed.

I am pleased with my Jeep Dingy.

Tom, hopefully you will get a definitive answer... In terms of the class A versus Dinghy forum... Its a toss up where you will a better response... Better does not translate into more...

It is helpful to provide specifics... Such as Transmission and year.

I will move this thread over to Dinghy forum and put it on page one tonight or tomorrow... To get some additional responses.

Sully2, is the only person I know personally that has or had a Jeep Patriot dinghy... I am thinking he liked it since he had it a long time... Contact him directly.

Wow! some cranky members regarding what question is asked where. I find it a perfectly legitimate questions to ask in the class A forum since so many of us tow. Lighten up.

The 2013 patroit came with a couple different transmission/transfer case options. The ones with FULL TIME 4WD can not be towed 4 down or 2 down.

Manual transmission (And transfer case) can. That has always been a reuirement, a MANUAL transfer case.

That said, The Patriot is one darn fine ride.. Last Memorial day weekend I had doctors appointments, Calls on lawyers and a funeral and concert to go to.. So I parked the house at the MOOSE and not having a towed gave a call to Enterprise.

The thing had either 11 or 12 miles on it when they got back to the office with me... And that's the one they gave me.. NICE ride. Seriously nice ride.

I had a older Jeep Wagoneer for four days before my wife crashed it and died.. That was nice too but not nearly as nice as the patriot.

I now drive a Neon when not driving the house.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Sometimes the moderators move a thread to the class A forum so that they can get more 'hits' then they will move them back where they belong.

Camp104, the new Cherokee is coming out which looks pretty sharp. By pulling up the Jeep site, I see the Patriot starts at $15,995 MSRP which is the best starting price of all the Jeep products.

Previously, automatics that were approved for towing where the ones with the manual transfer case OR a manual tranny. But, checking with the dealer really is your best bet to make sure.

Happy Camping!

I would start by visiting the JEEP dealer and talking to them and reading the owners manual under recreational towing.

I understand the logic of placing the question in the proper content area but I have found that I get the best responses by placing my questions here as this is monitored by more people. I may not be doing it correctly but the general posting seems to work best.
