Think some are talking about the GS/FJcharge card and some are talking about the GS/FJ swipe and save card. Two different cards.

We have received the Swipe and Save, however with it's annual fees you'll need to fill up a lot of "save" any money. Do the math and check fees--anywhere from $25 per year or $75 for 3 years.

There is no fee for the Swipe and Save. It is a free benefit to club members.

I'm a newbie to this forum and GSC. Just got my first renewal notice today. It mentions a new swipe and save card where you can get 3 cents off each gallon of gas at participating Pilot and Flying J locations. I was not aware of this feature, although I had seen in the past where you could use a Pilot / Flying J CC and get a discount...Just have no need for a new CC. Has anyone used this feature? Do the "old" cards work as well?

BTW I have opted out of junk mail but I don't consider what GSC sends me to be junk since I am a member.

I don't like biting the hand that feeds us...(this forum for example) but I do agree in being honest about our feelings and how these companies affect our lives!

GS is a great RVers club but I can't say that for their add-on "programs" that result in so much junk mail. If we took out all those programs and their cards...our wallets would be an inch thicker!

We need to call and opt out. All of our GS mail goes directly into the fire of the woodstove unopened.

However with the Internet being the way most people communicate why no let people interested in their products just go to their website instead of wasting money on mail?

I believe the only thing we have of Good Sams is our club membership in case we can get a discount at an RV park. We have never joined one of their chapters because there aren't any locally and we just don't do big rallies anymore.

As for Camping World. We can count on one hand the number of times we've shopped at their store in the past 14 years! We can find everything we need at other types of stores we are in anyways. We have never used their RV service.

Newbie RVers may be drawn to CW & CS like a bear to honey but for most of seasoned owners/travelers...we've found ways to make our way through our travels without using all the products both of these companies offer.

The BEST thing is this forum. I'm sorry CW & GS but this is truth!

I got rid of all the GS and CW mail and email without quitting. I called the GS and CW 800 numbers and told them I want to "opt out" from all email and postal mail. That did it. They are prohibited by law from sending me anything other than a bill or confirmation of payment. I love the silence.

I'm always amazed at all the talk of discounts, discounts, discounts. I belong to and participate in the Good Sam CLUB, discounts are a perk of membership. I didn't join to get any discounts.

It's fairly simple to understand. Good Sam PITCHES that feature, using as a selling point and clearly lists it as a benefit. People who sign up aren't coming up with this on their own :R

Bottom line: If you offer a benefit, honor it. If you don't want to honor it, don't use it to entice new members. Simple.

That's the problem nowadays. People only want to pay a little and expect to get something of more monetary value in return. I agree. It's a club first hand and secondly it offers discounts for certain things to its members. As someone mentioned in another thread. It's all about ME nowadays.

Not really, there is a lot of people doing this lifestyle that actually need the discounts. The vast majority here are beyond "income bearing" age.

Stay a weekend at a thousand trails campground and you'll see what I mean. Making the mistake of tossing something that you think is worthless in the trash can get you a good scolding.

The Swipe and Save card is not a credit card, it is your membership card. The old membership card does not have the magnetic strip on it that the new card has so I doubt that it would work.

What I find funny, and ironic, is that most of the people posting on this thread who say they are ex-members still proudly display the "Good Sam RV Club Member" link and avatar beneath their screen name. They're here complaining about Good Sam's advertising, but they, themselves, are advertising for Good Sam right here.
