I have some elbow pain while driving the motor home. Has anyone had this same problem and found an elbow brace helpful. If so what type?

I was having shoulder and elbow problems while driving both the school bus,15 years, and the MH and found that running the seat UP and the seat back straighter up, it kind of took care of most of it. Getting several young troublemakers removed from the bus helped a lot more.
The problem with the motorhome is that soft cushy seat that sits too low for comfort and can't be raised. I do sit with the seat back almost straight up also. My stress while driving comes from the person in the right seat that refuses to even try to start the engine, but thinks she can tell me everything I'm doing wrong.
I also have a great doctor, who keeps me supplied with visits to an absolutely awesome massage therapist, that can take care of my shoulder problems in 1 or two visits and that'll last for a couple of months.

Do make sure your tires are all balanced correctly and your coach is aligned. These two things will cause stress on an arm as the coach may pull every so slightly to one side. It also could be vibrating a bit, almost unnoticeable, and especially if you hit any bumps in the road. . . that reverberates through anything connected to the suspension, i.e., your arm on the steering wheel. These two items, when properly adjustable, will make a big difference in the comfort and pressure of your arm/hands on the wheel.

Other suggestions are valid as well. We full time and I am the only driver, but switching off can help on long distances. We rarely drive more than 250 miles a day and often not that far. It is less of a problem then.

Ibuprofen works for my driver's elbow.
Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

I found that by adjusting the steering wheel almost flat and resting both forearms on the arm rests I was very comfortable driving.

tennis elbow brace

Get a brace that has some kind of focal spot insert where you can place it directly on the source of the pain. If not, do what I did and place the plastic lid off a 20 oz drink directly on the spot of the pain, then crank the band down.

Try not to do a lot of activities than involve rotating/twisting the forearm. It can & will be akward at first. Look on YouTube for some physical therapy videos

thanks everyone for your replies. I don't sit on my wallet. I learned that a while ago. I just tried adjusting the arm rest and it helped. I am going to try the tennis elbow pad next.

It is amazing what a wallet can do to you!!!

Sounds like tennis elbow. My wife gets that and swears by the pressure brace that goes just below her elbow on her fore arm. The other thing that has helped me a lot is an over the counter Tens unit. About 50.00 at CVS and you wear it for 15 minutes at a time. Pain goes away after a couple of uses. My biggest problem is finding time to sit still for 15 minutes

Believe it or not this isn't as goofy as it sounds! A simple movement of 1 or 2 degrees in body angle makes a difference. My arm gets numb on occasion. I have to move it behind me or some other angle and it's better!

I had shoulder pain for a while. Turned out to be the arm rests, elevating my arms slightly and stressing the joints. Folded the arm rests up, let the arms hang naturally and the pain went away.
