Eternabond...which product(s)

Going to use eternabond to reseal some roof seams (jayco class c)...roof wraps over the side and butts up to a metal trim piece that is screwed in with a piece of vinyl. Going to clean well, and use eternabond. Rebed some exterior lights also.

Questions:
What eternabond product to use? 2" wide Eternabond Roofseal? Should I also get some double sided eternabond to have and use in other applications? (rebed those lights)

It seems that the passenger side rear has a swatch of delaminating
fiberglass. It also appears that we have had a MUSHROOM growing out the very bottom of the rear...SOOOOOOOOOOO there is water getting in somewhere. NO interior indication or in any compartments and neither one of us can decide whether this was there when we bought it or not.
Hubby took off part of the metal trim strip and the screws did not appear to be sealed in any way (thanks a bunch for that Jayco!)...so he is going to seal them...probably with eternabond double sided)and
check for any rusted ones.

Should we take off the metal strip to see what is behind the fiberglass and see what is actually going on? Should he Take off metal strip and put double sided eternabond behind it? Hubby is very much a Mr. Fix it so he can handle just about anything...just hasn't done much on rv's.

Also going to try a pressure test...next week when we return from a short outing.

Yeah the mushroom growing out of the bottom is weird...actually there were two of them in different spots: one on the back driver's side corner bottom and one in the middle bottom...the delamination is on the right back upper panel of the passenger side....so yeah there are issues to be corrected.

We realize the pressure test comes first.

If you have mushrooms growing from the walls, you have bigger issues than what type of Eternabond to use. I would pull the trim and start inspecting. Sometimes, a topical application of products like Git-rot will overcome the damage and sometimes framing needs to be replaced.

Good call on the pressurized leak test, it will turn up any water infiltration points. The test should be done before any Eternabond is applied, IMO.

I seem to remember hearing something like this, but I would have to question just how true that really is. I can't remember the details, but I guess it's something to consider, but I sure would not stop that probably minor issue stop me from making sure my roof never leaks.

As some folks found adding Eternabond didn't stop their leaks. Eternabond is great stuff when applied properly or used in the best situations.

Yeah, marketing...thought about that...more products more money.
The roof stuff is probably what I will go with and some of the double sided stuff too...
Thanks!

Had a leak where a satellite dome (after market) was installed didn't notice until a hard rain when at June Lake. No coverage since it was my install. Bought generic roofing Eternabond and sealed all seams and penetrations per Youtube directions. Had the rig for 7 more years. never leaked again. Point is...I got a deal on the old style EBond. Worked great. Newer RV specific products may be mainly marketing techniques. I did buy the white version though. TPO roof.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, youtube...hubby loves youtube for learning new things...will tell him. Yes, the roller we realized.

Unfortunately it is a 2005 unit.

x2 on what's said above.

If you're using eternabond, I'd look on YouTube for application tips and hints. Area prep and using a wooden or a steel roller are necessary tools (to activate the eternabond)

If you have a new unit under warranty first check with the dealer and the RV manufacturer before adding Eternabond up there. One poster lost his roof warranty on a brand new trailer because he added Eternabond all over his roof.

Now if the unit is out of warranty then its yours to do.

You tube and google is any RVers friend for more video help on projects like that.

If you think the unit has had a leak then by all means check for damage and mold issues.
